The patient is Ms. Hang Seo S. 64 years old, Mong ethnic group, Muong Khuong commune.

Based on the results of clinical examination, tests, abdominal CT scan, and MRI, the patient was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma with a 5cm tumor in the left lobe of the liver. After a specialist consultation, the patient was assigned to undergo laparoscopic surgery to remove the entire left lobe of the liver to remove the tumor from the body.

The patient recovered well after surgery and received intensive care.

Regarding the surgery, Dr. To Minh Hung, Deputy Director of Lao Cai General Hospital No. 2, emphasized : “The biggest advantage of endoscopic surgery is the small incision, the amount of blood loss is negligible, for this patient we did not have to transfuse blood after surgery. In particular, during the procedure, the tumor is examined under a sharp endoscopic screen, magnified many times to help the doctor observe closely, the tumor is removed more thoroughly, after surgery the patient has less pain, quickly returns to normal life”.

Laparoscopic liver resection is a difficult technique but brings high treatment efficiency with many advantages: limited invasion and complications. The successful implementation of laparoscopic liver resection to remove tumors for cancer patients at the Hospital affirms a new step forward in the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer, helping patients save on treatment costs and reducing the burden on upper-level hospitals.
