Trent Alexander-Arnold is about to join Real Madrid. |
After more than 20 years with Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially closed the first chapter of his career to start a new journey at Real Madrid. The 26-year-old defender has signed a 6-year contract with the Spanish Royal team and will play in this summer's Club World Cup, after "Los Blancos" agreed to pay £10 million to get his services earlier than expected.
However, the highlight off the pitch comes from... his personal car. According to El Motor , Alexander-Arnold will not be allowed to bring the £130,000 Range Rover that he often uses in England.
The reason? Real Madrid have an exclusive sponsorship deal with BMW, which means players are required to use the company's cars when they arrive at the training centre.
This has been a long-standing practice at Madrid, with BMW providing the squad with high-end electric and hybrid cars, such as the BMW XM – a model favoured by both Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham – which cost around £152,000 on the market, but the players receive them completely free of charge.
Alexander-Arnold's 530bhp Range Rover V8 Twin Turbo can hit 60mph in just 2.6 seconds, but it won't be taking to the streets of Madrid - at least not while he's at Real.
In addition, Real Madrid also set up a "steel fence" to protect their new recruit. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Alexander-Arnold's contract termination clause is up to 1 billion euros (equivalent to 840 million pounds). This figure is more than four times higher than the current world transfer record, showing how serious the Spanish club is about keeping one of the most brilliant defenders in the world .
Alexander-Arnold is currently training with the England squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Once the tournament is over, he will officially begin his journey at the Santiago Bernabeu - where everything, from tactical formations to car brands, is carefully calculated down to the last detail.
