According to FIFA regulations, from this point onwards, both Lewandowski and Christensen are free to negotiate and sign preliminary agreements with any club without needing to go through the Camp Nou club.

Despite turning 38 this August, Lewandowski's role at Barcelona remains crucial. He is the team's second-highest scorer this season with 8 goals in 18 appearances, behind only Ferran Torres.

However, Lewandowski's future largely depends on his secure position in the plans for the 2026/27 season. If he is no longer a first-choice player, attractive offers from MLS or Saudi Arabia could certainly lead the former Bayern Munich star to consider leaving.

Barcelona appreciates the professionalism and contributions of the Polish striker, but remains cautious about his age. With many clubs pursuing him, Lewandowski can certainly choose a suitable destination if he leaves Camp Nou.

In Christensen's case, the Danish center-back suffered a serious ACL injury and is almost certain to miss the rest of the season. This has forced the Barca management to reconsider their plans to offload players.

President Joan Laporta is considering a short-term contract extension with a salary cut, demonstrating responsibility towards the player while avoiding the risk of losing him for free. However, Christensen's ambition to participate in the 2026 World Cup may lead him to choose to leave in order to find opportunities to play as soon as he recovers.
