With a determination to connect transportation, boost the economy, and improve people's lives, in 2024 the province will focus on implementing four key transportation projects under the management of the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works. These include the project connecting the North-South Expressway with National Highway 1 and Ca Na General Seaport; the Van Lam - Son Hai road project; the Northern Ring Road project of Ninh Thuan province (section from Khanh Nhon Pass to National Highway 1); and component project 2, the section connecting Ma Noi commune (Ninh Son) to Ta Nang intersection (Duc Trong district, Lam Dong ).

One of the key projects that the province is focusing on accelerating progress and striving for completion in 2024 is the road connecting the North-South Expressway with National Highway 1 and the Ca Na General Seaport. After adjustments, the total length of this project has been increased to 23km with a total investment of approximately 689 billion VND. Of this, component project 1, the section connecting the North-South Expressway with National Highway 1, is approximately 10.14km long. To date, the total value of completed work is estimated at 85% of the contract value, and contractors are focusing on accelerating construction progress to complete the project by early 2025. Regarding component project 2, which is approximately 12.86km long, the Provincial People's Council has approved a resolution to adjust the investment policy. Currently, the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works is coordinating with relevant agencies to implement the project and expects to complete the entire route by the end of 2025.
To expedite progress, the investor (Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works) is coordinating with relevant departments, localities, and contractors to research and propose appropriate and specific construction methods and organization for each project, ensuring both quality and progress. They are also organizing meetings and briefings to listen to and promptly address difficulties and obstacles. Furthermore, they are closely coordinating with contractors to regularly inspect and require units to concentrate manpower and materials on construction; and strengthening management and strict supervision of the quality and quantity of construction work to ensure compliance with technical designs.

To connect with component project 1, the section from Tan Son to Ma Moi has been completed. Component project 2, the road connecting Ma Noi commune to Ta Nang intersection, with a total length of 41km and a total investment of over 1,095 billion VND, is also being expedited by contractors to overcome difficulties and accelerate construction progress. This project includes a 23.9km section through Ninh Son district and a 17.1km section through Duc Trong district (Lam Dong province), with many sections crossing forests and streams. Upon completion, the project is expected to create a continuous network connecting inter-regional trade in the Southern Central Highlands to the North-South expressway and the Ca Na deep-water seaport. Despite difficult conditions, unfavorable weather, hilly terrain, and deep ravines, the units and localities have so far cleared approximately 20.3km of land and implemented construction, achieving over 70% of the total contract value. In Lam Dong province, approximately 16.5km of the construction site is available, with an estimated 90% completion rate for the sections where land is available. The remaining 0.4km is being urgently constructed due to delayed land handover, aiming for early completion as planned.
Mr. Pham Minh Tan, Director of the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works, said: Currently, the harvesting of forest products along the route under packages 23 and 24 is being urgently implemented. The investor is actively coordinating with construction units to support the logging units in concentrating manpower and machinery to cut and fell trees and transport them to designated sites to quickly clear the land and accelerate construction progress. At the same time, a specific and detailed construction plan is being implemented for each section where land is available to expedite the disbursement of allocated funds. The project aims to open the route by April 30, 2025, and all project components will be completed by the end of 2025.
For the Ninh Thuan province's Northern Ring Road project (section from Khanh Nhon Pass to National Highway 1), with a length of 10.42km and a total investment of over 487 billion VND, divided into two construction packages, the total completed work has reached approximately 85% of the contract value. Contractors are focusing on accelerating construction progress to complete the project this year. Upon completion, the project will connect National Highway 1 (section in Ba Thap village, Bac Phong commune, Thuan Bac district) to the coastal axis through Ninh Hai district to Phan Rang - Thap Cham city, facilitating tourism development.

According to the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works, the Van Lam - Son Hai road project, connecting National Highway 1 with the coastal road section from Phu Tho to Mui Dinh, has its starting point at Km1570+270, intersecting with National Highway 1, and its end point at Son Hai intersection, Phuoc Dinh commune (Thuan Nam district). The road is over 13km long and has a total investment of over 372 billion VND. To date, the project has been completed, inspected, and put into use, providing convenient connectivity to the coastal tourism area, the Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power plant project, and the Southern key economic zone of the province.
Once operational, these key transportation projects will be a driving force for goods transportation, forming a comprehensive and interconnected transportation network, and providing a major impetus for localities to accelerate development. At the same time, they will facilitate investment attraction and increase trade links between localities within and outside the province in a convenient, safe, and efficient manner.
