In Bac Giang , a 4.5-meter-tall dragon model, including its base, weighing 10-12 tons and painted orange, was completed in over 70 days by Bui Van Quan, 32, from Hung Son commune, Hiep Hoa district. To create it, he built an iron frame, enclosed it with steel mesh, and then used a mixture of sand and cement to sculpt the dragon. The dragon is now complete and is being further decorated with models of banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), apricot blossoms, and other decorative elements.
Quân plans to open the statue to visitors on January 28th, free of charge. He named the dragon statue "the happy dragon".
On social media, many opinions suggest that the statue bears many features of European dragons. However, the owner stated that only the body structure of a European dragon was used, while other details retain the characteristics of a traditional dragon. Photo: Pham Chieu
