On the morning of February 5th, the dragon mascot in Nghe An was unveiled at the art flower garden on Ho Tung Mau Street (Vinh City). The parts of the mascot were transported, assembled, and installed by workers from Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company overnight on February 4th to ensure its completion in time for people to enjoy the Lunar New Year celebrations of the Year of the Dragon.

The dragon mascot is approximately 30 meters long, 5 meters high, and weighs about 3 tons. The dragon's head is designed with a majestic aura, while its body is graceful and undulating, depicting a dragon holding a pearl hidden in the clouds, ready to ascend. This symbolizes steadfastness, waiting for opportunities, yet maintaining patience and humility.

According to Mr. Tran Quoc Bao (Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company), the construction unit used steel to fix the dragon's frame, lined it with a layer of transparent plastic, and covered it with fabric featuring dragon scale patterns. The dragon's head, in particular, combines a steel frame, plastic, and foam. Lights are fitted in the dragon's mouth, symbolizing a dragon holding a pearl.

"The dragon is in the process of being completed. We will install flashing lights to cover the dragon and its fins, creating a nighttime lighting effect for the mascot," Mr. Bao said.

The main body, featuring a dragon hidden in the clouds and coiled into three loops, is stylized as a welcoming arch for people to enjoy during the spring festival.

The dragon's legs are designed majestically with sharp claws, ready to seize any opportunity.

From the moment it was unveiled, the dragon mascot in Nghe An received special attention from the people. Ms. Huong Sen (residing in Vinh City, Nghe An) said: "I came back from afar to my hometown for Tet, and I heard about the dragon mascot on social media, so I decided to visit the city to admire it. I have to admit it's very beautiful."

People in Nghe An are delighted to take pictures of the dragon mascot. Mr. Phan Tan Hoi (residing in Truong Thi ward, Vinh City, Nghe An province) said: "I find the dragon mascot very beautiful, representing solemnity, grace, as well as the aspiration for development and upward progress like a flying dragon for our city, province, and country."

At this time, the construction team is completing the final stages so that the dragon mascot can "officially" welcome the spring.

The dragon mascot is expected to be a special highlight of the spring flower garden, attracting locals and tourists from all over to Vinh City during the 2024 Lunar New Year.
