A wave of high-powered motorcycles has arrived in Vietnam, with many models costing more than cars.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The Vietnam Motor Show (VMS 2024) marks the return of many motorcycle and scooter brands, attracting the attention of a large number of speed enthusiasts.

Despite the absence of many luxury car brands, the Vietnam Motor Show (VMS) 2024 still offered many interesting features, attracting a large number of visitors. Besides a series of new products launched within the framework of the exhibition, this year's event also impressed with the participation of numerous motorcycle brands. A total of eight two-wheeler brands appeared at VMS 2024, including: Honda, Yamaha, SYM, UM Motorcycles, Harley-Davidson, Triumph, KTM, and Husqvarna. This number represents a significant increase compared to previous exhibitions, in the context of the increasingly diverse motorcycle market in Vietnam.

Yamaha's booth was the largest among all two-wheeled vehicle brands at VMS 2024, and it was located in the center of the main area (Hall A). With the theme "Future to the Max," the Japanese manufacturer brought a large number of vehicles across all segments, from scooters to large-displacement motorcycles, electric vehicles , and concept cars. The Maxi Series accounted for the largest number of these. Yamaha also unveiled two concept models at VMS 2024: Motoroid and Elove, which feature self-recognition of their owners, the ability to transform, and autonomous driving and self-balancing without requiring throttle operation. In addition, the Japanese manufacturer introduced a new Maxi line at the exhibition, including models such as TMAX, NMAX, XMAX 300, NVX, and LEXi 155 VVA ABS.

The centerpiece of Honda's motorcycle lineup at VMS 2024 is the 2024 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP sportbike. Priced at 1.051 billion VND, it's close to the price of a D-segment SUV like the Ford Everest (starting at 1.099 billion VND). The new version features electronic throttle technology, an upgraded high-performance Brembo braking system, and the world's first Ohlins Smart Electronic Control suspension system. The engine also boasts improved power and torque in the mid-range RPMs.

Large-displacement motorcycle brands from Europe and America also attracted attention with their high-end lineups. Located in the center of Hall B was the display area for Harley-Davidson, Triumph Motorcycles, KTM, and Husqvarna Motorcycles, distributed by Al Naboodah International. Some motorcycle models were even among the most expensive at VMS 2024, such as the Harley Davidson CVO Road Glide ST (2.5 billion VND) or CVO Street Glide (2.3-2.7 billion VND), exceeding the prices of many cars featured at the exhibition.

Among the motorcycle brands showcasing at VMS 2024, UM Motorcycles is making its debut to Vietnamese consumers. This American motorcycle manufacturer, founded in 1999, now has a presence in over 40 countries. For this launch, UM Motorcycles is bringing four products in the entry-level segment (two 125cc models and two 300cc models). The Scrambler X 125 is a Scrambler-style motorcycle, while the other three (Renegade Sport 125, ST 300, and Freedom 300) are cruiser-style bikes. The UM Motorcycles lineup at VMS 2024 targets customers new to the world of motorcycles. According to the company representative, the two 125cc models will be priced at around 82-100 million VND, while the two 300cc models are expected to range from 120-150 million VND.
