If they buy Grealish, Napoli will end their interest in Garnacho. |
According to British media, coach Conte asked De Bruyne about Jack Grealish - the player who will almost certainly leave the Etihad Stadium after being eliminated from Man City's squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
De Bruyne joined Napoli earlier this month and hopes his positive recommendations will convince Conte to bring Grealish to Italy. Man City are willing to sell Grealish at a loss compared to the £100m price paid to Aston Villa four years ago.
Grealish has had to take a pay cut, as Napoli can only pay him more than half of his £300,000-a-week Man City income. Grealish is said to be willing to accept the chance to return to the England team and attend the 2026 World Cup. Everton also want Grealish as a big-money signing, but Napoli's appeal is stronger.
Napoli have around £45m to spend on either Grealish or Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, but will only buy one. De Bruyne's move puts Manchester United in a difficult position because the Old Trafford club has not found a partner to buy Garnacho outright.
If the deal to sign Grealish is successful, Conte's team can start their Serie A title defense campaign next season with up to 6 stars who used to play in the Premier League in the squad.
Former Manchester United star Scott McTominay won Serie A Player of the Year last season and partnered former Chelsea and Brighton player Billy Gilmour in midfield. Another former Manchester United star, Romelu Lukaku, also plays for Napoli. Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing joined Napoli in January 2025 and could sign a long-term deal.
Man City are willing to let Grealish leave on loan, especially if Napoli commit to buying him permanently after one season.
