Participating in the world finals of the International Programming Contest (ICPC) also affirms the brand of the University of Science and Technology in the field of information technology, meeting the requirements of training high-quality human resources in the current integration trend.
Opportunities from big playgrounds
The BKDN.Arcane team of the University of Technology includes students Le Ngoc Bao Anh (class 23T - KHDL1), Luu Duy Quang (class 22T - KHDL), Vo Dac Bao An (class 21TCLC - DT1) led by Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, lecturer of the Faculty of Information Technology.
The International Programming Contest (ICPC) is a major event, gathering young IT programming talents from 8 regions around the world to compete. With a competition time of about 5 hours, the teams will demonstrate their bravery, intelligence and programming skills with creative thinking, requiring strategy, teamwork skills and appropriate and effective algorithm application.
Before qualifying for the world finals, the BKDN.Arcane team has affirmed its mettle and capacity through a series of outstanding achievements such as the ICPC Central Region Championship 2024, the National ICPC First Prize 2024, the Silver Medal ICPC Asia Hanoi Regional Contest 2024 and recently the Bronze Medal ICPC Asia Pacific Championship 2025. BKDN.Arcane is also the only representative of the school (and the entire Central Highlands region) to participate in the prestigious ICPC 2025 playground.
Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, lecturer of the Faculty of Information Technology, shared that this is the first time the University of Technology (University of Danang ) has entered the final round of a major competition. This journey is quite arduous, this year is the 14th year that Dr. Tuan has participated in leading the team.
In the early years, the Polytechnic University was almost absent from the map of Vietnam in the ICPC playground, because this was a very difficult playground, the competing teams almost did not win any prizes. But this year, thanks to their efforts and luck, the members of the Polytechnic University student team entered the top 120 teams representing 8 territories in the ICPC finals.
Nurturing technology talent
According to Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, for the first time, the school's students participated in the world finals and achieved the result of 39/139 ICPC Challenge, ranking 90/139 ICPC World Final. The result had many regrets, but this is a world playground, so achieving this result is also a motivation to continue on the path to conquer the future.
“Participating in the final round of the ICPC International Programming Contest, students have valuable experiences. The grandeur of the organization, meeting and interacting with leading companies in the current technology industry such as OpenAI, Google, Huawei... or Vietnamese technology millionaires help students have a clearer direction for the future,” Dr. Tuan shared.
Dr. Huynh Phuong Nam, Vice Principal of the school, said that for the first time, the University of Technology has a student team that has entered the world finals. This proud achievement contributes to affirming the prestige of the school, the quality of training students in engineering majors in general, and the key fields of information technology and semiconductor microchips in particular. This event marks the remarkable progress of the school's students and affirms the role and dedication of Dr. Pham Minh Tuan and the lecturers in the process of training and selecting the team to achieve this result.
University of Technology (University of Danang) is considered the cradle and input quality of information technology human resources.
This school year, the school has many excellent new students such as: Nguyen Ngoc Minh (former student of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang), a student who won the National Prize in Information Technology, was admitted directly to the school and received a scholarship worth 50 million VND. Ngoc Minh is a new student with many academic achievements with nearly 20 awards and medals in information technology competitions at all levels.
In addition to student Ngoc Minh, the school also welcomed the valedictorian Dinh Nhu Duy Tue (Class 25T_KHDL, Information Technology, majoring in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence) with a near-perfect score of 29.75 and Nhu Tue was awarded a scholarship of 40 million VND. Tue is also a student with very good foreign language skills with an IELTS certificate of 8.5.
