Stock market upgraded, VN-Index rises over 12 points.

This morning, the Vietnamese stock market experienced a particularly active trading session at the beginning, reflecting market participants' expectations of achieving emerging market status.

At the start of the session, many stocks in the Securities sector gained significantly. However, this momentum did not last until the end of the session, closing in the red, including VIX, HCM, and MBS.

Therefore, the focus this morning was really on the Retail sector, with the entire industry rising by over 2%. MWG stood out with a nearly 3% increase at the close of trading.

Several blue-chip stocks in the banking sector also performed well this morning, leading the market despite increased selling pressure towards the end of the session. CTG and LPB were notable names.

VIC and VHM are the top two stocks contributing the most points to the main index.

The red color also spread strongly towards the end of the session to the Oil and Gas and Construction Materials sectors. HPG and BSR faced downward pressure, falling by 0.52% and 0.57% respectively.

Foreign investors continued their strong net selling activity this morning, with a total net selling value of approximately 881 billion VND. SSI topped the list of stocks sold net by foreign investors.

With active trading, the VN-Index surged in the afternoon session of October 8th.

At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose 12.53 points to 1,697.83 points, with a trading volume of over 1.06 million shares, equivalent to over 33,207.7 billion VND. Across the entire exchange, there were 181 gainers, 121 losers, and 70 unchanged stocks. The VN30 index recorded 19 gainers, 7 losers, and 4 unchanged stocks. Leading gainers included VHM (up 4.27%), VRE (up 3.71%), MWG (up 3.59%), VNM (up 3.26%), CTG (up 2.52%), and STB (up 2.39%).

Meanwhile, VIC, TCB, LPB, andFPT faced selling pressure, hindering the index's upward momentum. The stocks with the most positive impact on the VN-Index were VHM, VCB, CTG, and VNM.

The HNX-Index also recorded positive developments, increasing by 0.47 points to 273.34 points with 68 gainers, 65 losers, and 73 unchanged stocks. Stocks contributing positively included KSV (up 1.24%), CEO (up 2.05%), SHS (up 1.14%), and PVS (up 1.25%). Trading volume reached over 117.9 million shares, equivalent to over 2,641.6 billion VND.

The UPCOM-Index rose 0.19 points to 110.43 points, with 132 stocks gaining, 90 stocks declining, and 93 stocks remaining unchanged. Trading volume reached over 34.1 million shares, equivalent to nearly 550 billion VND.

In terms of sectors, the non-essential consumer goods sector saw positive growth thanks to MWG's 3.59% increase, FRT's 2.38% increase, DGW's 0.49% increase, and HHS's 4.09% increase. Real estate and essential consumer goods also saw price increases. Conversely, the information technology sector experienced the sharpest declines due to FPT's 1.05% decrease, DLG's 0.35% decrease, and VEC's 8.89% decrease.

Regarding foreign investor transactions, on the HOSE exchange, foreign investors made net purchases of over 154 billion VND, focusing on GEX (264.1 billion VND), MWG (254.85 billion VND), HPG (179.59 billion VND), and VCB (130.45 billion VND). On the HNX exchange, foreign investors made net sales of over 62 billion VND, mainly in IDC (47.63 billion VND), CEO (15.73 billion VND), PLC (2.44 billion VND), and MST (1.59 billion VND).

The trading session on October 8th closed with a strong recovery in the VN-Index, reflecting the optimistic sentiment of investors as buyers gradually regained their position, helping to push the index closer to the 1,700-point mark.
