The FTA Index is a set of indicators, first implemented in Vietnam under the direction of the Prime Minister , to measure the effectiveness of the implementation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) at the local level.
This is a new, quantitative, and systematic tool, built upon surveys of businesses in all provinces and cities nationwide.
The FTA Index is a composite score of four component indices on a 10-point scale, resulting in a total score of 40.
Specifically, the four groups of criteria include: the level of access to FTA information by businesses; the situation of compliance with domestic laws resulting from FTA commitments; the effectiveness of policies and programs supporting businesses in leveraging FTAs; and the implementation of sustainable development commitments at the local level.
Long An's ranking of 6th in the list demonstrates the efforts of the local government and business community in international economic integration and effectively exploiting the opportunities offered by FTAs.
At the same time, this is also an important basis for the province to continue improving policies to support businesses, enhance competitiveness, and attract investment .
The FTA Index is not only a monitoring and evaluation tool, but also a basis for localities and the central government to orient appropriate economic development strategies, enhance the effectiveness of integration, and implement international commitments in a substantive and sustainable manner.
