Core force fighting to protect the Party's ideological foundation

Quang Ninh Provincial Media Center is not only a channel providing official information but also a core force in orienting public opinion, preventing fake news, and exposing the sabotage plots of hostile forces. With methodical strategies, application of modern technology, and a team of journalists with strong political will, the Center is making an important contribution to maintaining political stability, developing the province's socio-economic situation, and firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

The Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department (now the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department) held a press conference in December 2024 to refute the information that "UNESCO may conduct an inspection to withdraw the World Heritage title of Ha Long Bay".

The ideological struggle is becoming increasingly complex. According to data from the authorities, on average, more than 100,000 fake news and malicious information are spread on social media platforms every day. Many contents distort the truth, misrepresent the Party's policies and guidelines, causing confusion among the public. In particular, reactionary elements often use "sensitive" issues such as land policy, freedom of speech, human rights, etc. to incite sabotage.

Quang Ninh, with its strategic position as the gateway to the Northeast region, has always been a target exploited by hostile forces to distort and divide the great national unity bloc. In recent years, on average, each year, the province's functional forces have discovered, fought, and handled more than 50 cases related to fake information and toxic news on cyberspace, including many distorted contents about personnel work, investment policies, and sustainable tourism development. Typically, when the province implemented the roadmap to close open-pit coal mines to protect the environment, some subjects spread false information such as "the province is giving up its economic strengths", "tens of thousands of workers will lose their jobs"... The provincial Media Center quickly took action, produced a series of articles to refute and provide clear data on the province's economic transformation plan, emphasizing labor retraining and career conversion for coal industry workers. Highly critical articles with specific data have contributed to extinguishing the flow of false information, helping people understand the correct policies of the province.

The representative of the group of authors from the Provincial Media Center won the A prize in the Political Essay Contest to protect the ideological foundation of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party, 2024.

Not only stopping at refuting false information, the Center also plays a key role in orienting public opinion and handling media crises. At the end of 2024, when Reuters published an article implying that UNESCO might review and withdraw the World Heritage title of Ha Long Bay, the Center coordinated with relevant agencies to refute the false information. Dozens of official articles have affirmed the province's efforts to preserve the heritage, citing opinions from the Department of Cultural Heritage and UNESCO experts. Thanks to the timely intervention, false information was pushed back, eliminating the risk of a media crisis about the World Natural Wonder of Ha Long Bay in cyberspace.

Along with that, many sensitive events created conditions for hostile forces to distort and incite. Under the prompt and close direction of the Steering Committee of 35 provinces and provincial leaders, the Provincial Media Center promptly provided objective and transparent information, oriented public opinion, and provided information to press agencies and the public...

In addition to the direct fighting lines, the Center also launched a series of communication campaigns and in-depth columns with strong influence. Typical columns: "Quang Ninh takes off in the era of national rise", "Streamlining the organizational apparatus" implemented in early 2025 on all infrastructures of the Center. Thereby, affirming the remarkable development of the province, the determination to enter a new era, creating a profound forum for people to grasp the province's innovation policies. Along with that are the communication campaigns: "Making Yen Tu a World Heritage Site", "30 years of Ha Long Bay being honored by UNESCO as a world natural heritage", "Awakening the tourism potential of Bai Tu Long Bay", "Developing the Quang Ninh heritage economy" ... are closely directed in terms of content, prioritizing resources for production, spreading with much pride in the homeland and country.

The E-Magazine series on Quang Ninh Electronic Newspaper in the communication campaign on "Streamlining the organizational apparatus" has created a strong influence and is a forum for people to understand more deeply about the innovation policies of the country and the province.

The Provincial Media Center also promotes the production of highly combative political journalism works. Typical series of articles: "Strengthening resistance to bad and toxic information", won the A prize in the Political Contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation at the provincial level in 2024; "Controlling the power of cadres: Practice from the local level" won the A prize of the National Press Award in 2022, along with many press awards "Golden Hammer and Sickle", "Dien Hong", "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style"..., national radio and television festivals...

Faced with increasingly greater challenges, the Quang Ninh Provincial Media Center has identified its strategy for the coming time as continuing to enhance its proactiveness in the fight to protect the Party's ideological foundation. One of the key tasks is to promote cooperation with major domestic and foreign press agencies to disseminate official information, while learning from international experience in handling fake news. The Center continues to invest in human resources, training a team of reporters who are not only good at their profession but also have strong political will, ready to operate in cyberspace.
