Manchester United shot themselves in the foot during their home match against Everton at Old Trafford, as their five-game unbeaten run was brought to a halt by a disappointing defeat. Notably, the "Red Devils" played with a man advantage from the 13th minute after Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye received a red card.
During the live commentary, former defender Gary Neville expressed his frustration with Luke Shaw's performance. He criticized: "I'm not saying playing with 10 men is easy, but you have to have urgency, you have to constantly push forward. Yet Leny Yoro, Shaw, and De Ligt stayed in their own half too much. Shaw pushed forward but in a sluggish way, which was very frustrating to watch. He annoyed me for 20 minutes."
Neville emphasized that his younger teammates lacked speed and initiative in attacking plays: "You can't do that, you have to run forward whenever you can. I can sympathize with Yoro because his ball control isn't great, but Shaw playing like that is ridiculous. He won't fool anyone."
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored the only goal in the first half to give Everton the victory. Manager Ruben Amorim made several changes in the second half, bringing on Mason Mount, Diogo Dalot, and Kobbie Mainoo, but Everton's defense remained disciplined and solid to secure the win.
This result leaves MU stuck in 10th place after 12 rounds of matches.
