After nearly 4 days of being put into operation, the two North-South expressway component projects, Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung sections in Ha Tinh with a length of nearly 90km, have contributed to helping people travel conveniently and safely during the April 30 and May 1 holidays. When traveling on the highway from Bai Vot to Vung Ang, drivers can easily see some sections of the road with noise-proof walls stretching hundreds of meters. In the photo: A nearly 500-meter-long noise-proof panel on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang highway in Cam Thach commune, Cam Xuyen district.
The noise-proof wall is installed right behind the guardrail, 3m high, length depends on the design of each specific route section.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Trung - Director of the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi Expressway Project Management Board (Thang Long Project Management Board, Ministry of Construction ) said: Noise-proof walls are installed at locations on the main expressway with adjacent residential areas or schools to minimize the impact of traffic noise on the surrounding area.
Soundproof walls also have the ability to block wind, increase driver concentration, and ensure safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic.
In addition to Cam Thach commune, on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway section, there are 5 other locations where noise-proof walls are installed, such as in Cam Son commune, Cam Thinh commune (Cam Xuyen district), Ky Phong commune (Ky Anh district)... Similarly, on the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway section, there are also 3 locations for installing noise-proof walls in Kim Song Truong commune, Dong Loc town (Can Loc district).
According to Ha Tinh Newspaper reporters, the noise-proof wall on the highway from Bai Vot to Vung Ang in Ha Tinh is only installed on the right side of the route in the direction of travel from North to South.
Explaining this, Mr. Nguyen Dang Cuong - an officer of the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi Expressway Project Management Board (Thang Long Project Management Board, Ministry of Construction) said: On the right side of the route, residential areas and schools are closer to the expressway than on the left side. Along the left side of the expressway, there is still an empty space between the residential areas and adjacent schools - the area of land that has been cleared, preparing for the construction of the complete phase of the expressway. Because there is a vacant land, the impact of noise and dust from the highway will be less. Besides, if the noise barrier is installed on the left side of the route, in case the highway is completely built, it will be wasteful to have to remove it. From 6 p.m. on April 28, car drivers are allowed to travel on the two expressways Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang in Ha Tinh. On April 29, traffic on the two expressways was clear with relatively few vehicles.
However, since the morning of April 30, traffic volume on these two highways has increased compared to the previous day.
Despite the increase in vehicles, traffic on the two highways remains clear, with no congestion or traffic jams.
On May 1, on the main highway from Bai Vot to Vung Ang, there were reports of people riding motorbikes, electric motorbikes and some types of livestock (buffaloes, dogs) traveling on the highway, causing traffic insecurity and posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.
