C. ARRICK HAS THE CHANCE TO WIN 4 GAMES IN A ROW
Throughout his entire career managing Manchester United, Ruben Amorim only managed one consecutive three-match winning streak in the Premier League. That was also Amorim's longest winning run at MU. Now, Michael Carrick, having only managed three matches, has already matched his predecessor's best record. Carrick's winning streak is even more impressive, as two of his first three defeated opponents were two of the strongest teams in English football at the moment – Arsenal and Manchester City.

Next up will be the "nightmare" of Manchester United fans throughout the past season - Tottenham (7:30 PM on February 7th). On one hand, a fourth consecutive win would be a fantastic milestone that MU never achieved during Amorim's tenure. Owner Jim Radcliffe desperately needs this to at least reassure himself mentally before taking the next crucial step in reviving MU: sacking Amorim was the right decision. On the other hand, while not necessarily evoking the concept of "revenge," MU must beat the "nightmare" Tottenham to gain complete confidence in the race for the top four from now until the end of the season.
Tottenham were the opponents who directly deprived Tottenham of both the Europa League title and the glory and money (a Champions League spot worth hundreds of millions of pounds) in the crucial final match of last season. Captain Bruno Fernandes and key goalscorers like Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, and Benjamin Sesko are all in good form, meaning manager Carrick will have to "sacrifice" at least one player when selecting the starting lineup. Conversely, Tottenham are missing a number of key players due to injury, including Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Pedro Porro, Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentacur, Ben Davies, Lucas Bergvall, and Kevin Danso. Even striker Dominic Solanke (who recently scored a stunning scorpion kick against Man City) and Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven, and Djed Spence are not in their best form at the moment. It seems that MU has the edge both in terms of form (winning 3 consecutive Premier League matches while Tottenham hasn't won a single game in the last 6 rounds) and squad strength.
THE DIFFICULT GATEWAY TO OTTENHAM
Manager Alex Ferguson looked at his watch to see how many minutes were left, and on the pitch, a Manchester United player scored a crucial goal. It's a legendary image, associated with the most glorious era of the "Red Devils." And that's exactly what Manchester United fans wanted to see, when Benjamin Sesko scored the winning goal in the 90+4th minute of the recent match, securing a 3-2 victory against Fulham.
This season, Manchester United have twice scored winning goals in injury time at Old Trafford, sending their fans into a frenzy. In total, across the past three seasons, they have only scored two such goals. While experts constantly discuss the significant tactical and playing style changes under Michael Carrick, he himself emphasized the players' fighting spirit until the very last minute when asked what he was most pleased about.
In truth, both statements are correct. Coach Carrick returned to a four-man defense, successfully positioning Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, and Bruno Fernandes in the midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation, and the Manchester United players played more naturally, cohesively, and easily than Amorim's previous forced style of play. This is why their fighting spirit and effectiveness at the end of the match increased significantly. Once they overcome the difficult hurdle of Tottenham, Carrick's Manchester United will truly soar.
