The MacBook Air M4 has garnered significant consumer interest as consumers often seek a lightweight, stylish laptop with good battery life and a reasonable price, rather than focusing solely on power.
The MacBook Air M4 doesn't seem to offer any major breakthroughs compared to its predecessor.
Typically, Apple announces all its models in the same month; however, the company seems to want to do things differently with its upcoming launch. The MacBook Air M4 is expected to be introduced in the first quarter of 2025, which is between January and March. However, the exact timing is still unconfirmed, and there may be a surprise press release in the near future.
Is the MacBook Air M4 really an improvement?
The first thing to note about the MacBook Air M4 is that it will be equipped with the M4 chip, delivering better performance than its predecessor. While the power of current computers is sufficient for most needs, there are still many technologies that need improvement in the MacBook line, such as a more advanced camera, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, and compatibility with two external displays.
However, the MacBook Air M4 is not expected to have many major changes compared to previous models. If Apple does bring any significant improvements, it's more likely they will include them in the 2025 MacBook Pro. Therefore, if you already own a MacBook Air with an Apple processor, upgrading might not be necessary right now.
Another important factor is the price. If Apple raises the price, it could make the MacBook Air M4 less of an ideal choice for those who already own one.
Reportedly, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman suggests that the MacBook Air M4 will be the first product to launch this year, preceding other devices such as the iPhone SE or AirTag 2.
