TPO – The Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) announced that from the night of September 9th to this morning, heavy rain in Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, and Lao Cai caused flooding and forced power outages for more than 390,000 customers in 7 deeply flooded areas to ensure safety. Currently, power has been restored to nearly 100% of Hanoi , and Ha Long will have power restored today (September 10th).
By early this morning, 90% of pumping stations and approximately 4.3 million customers in the northern provinces affected by floods had had their power restored.

EVN also stated that its hydropower plants in the northern region are currently operating normally, with a large volume of water continuing to flow into the reservoirs due to the post-storm circulation. Hydropower reservoirs in the north are currently opening their spillway gates to regulate water levels according to the directives of the National Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Control of provinces and cities.
At the Tuyen Quang hydropower plant, the inflow into the reservoir has decreased to 4789 m3/s, and the upstream water level has dropped to 118.8m. At the Thac Ba reservoir, the highest inflow was 5,238 m3 /s at 5:00 AM on September 10th, and has also decreased to 5,133 m3 /s. The hydropower plant has implemented the order to open 3 out of 3 spillway gates as directed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development . The reservoir water level continues to rise.
According to EVN, the Tuyen Quang reservoir currently has 7 bottom sluice gates open, Lai Chau has 1 gate open, Ban Chat has 2 gates open, Huoi Quang has 2 gates open, Hoa Binh has 2 gates open, Thac Ba has 3 gates open, Trung Son has 6 gates open, and Ban Ve has 2 gates open.
Regarding the 500kV power grid, 7 out of 10 affected sections have been restored. The 220kV grid has restored power to 29 out of 40 incidents, with 8 out of 9 220kV substations now operational. The 110kV grid has also restored power to 83 out of 102 incidents.
EVN also stated that, in Hanoi, according to information from the Hanoi City Power Corporation, almost 100% of customers whose power supply was interrupted due to Typhoon Yagi have now had their power restored.

According to the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC), from the night of September 9th to this morning, heavy rain caused flooding in 7 areas. Local power companies proactively cut off electricity to more than 390,000 customers to ensure safety.
In Yen Bai, rising water levels are affecting several areas of Yen Bai city, Yen Binh, Tran Yen, Van Yen, and Luc Yen, causing disruptions in many places and interrupting electricity supply to 104,233 customers. In Bac Giang, electricity is currently out of service to 96,524 customers in Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Son Dong, and Yen The districts.
In Lang Son province, 30,000 customers in Trang Dinh, Van Quan, Binh Gia, Huu Lung, and Chi Lang districts are currently without electricity. In Phu Tho province, 555 customers in Doan Hung and Ha Hoa districts are experiencing power outages.
In Thai Nguyen province, 140,120 customers are currently without electricity in Thai Nguyen city and the districts of Vo Nhai, Dai Tu, Dong Hy, and Dinh Hoa. In some areas, the water is receding, and the power company will inspect and restore electricity if it is safe to do so. In Cao Bang province, the Ha Quang and Nguyen Binh areas are severely flooded, affecting electricity supply to approximately 1,000 customers.
In Lao Cai province, 123,880 customers in Lao Cai city and the districts of Bat Xat, Bao Thang, and Bao Yen are without electricity due to severe flooding. Due to the continued heavy rain and flooding, the Lao Cai Power Company (PC Lao Cai) has proactively cut power to nearly 1,000 low-voltage substations to prevent potential incidents and protect the safety of residents and property.
EVNNPC also stated that it has dispatched rapid response teams and contractors to proactively assist the power companies in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Hai Duong in overcoming the consequences of typhoon No. 3.
As of this morning, the Northern Power Corporation has restored 30% of the affected power supply across Quang Ninh province. The power company has basically restored electricity to critical loads throughout the province, such as hospitals, telecommunications, and clean water supply. Electricity to coal mines has also been restored to 90%. It is expected that Ha Long City will have its power supply largely restored by September 10th.
