In recent years, portable mini projectors have become increasingly popular, especially among young people, small families, those with educational or small business needs, and even those who enjoy traveling and outdoor activities.

Unlike bulky traditional projectors that require significant space and professional systems, the affordable mini projector range focuses on a more convenient, personalized, and flexible experience. Some popular models include: Wanbo Davinci 1 Pro, Beecube X2 Max Gen 5 Full HD, Eroc Max Full HD, Xiaomi Smart Projector L1…

A wide variety of options

For around 4-5 million VND, equivalent to a budget smartphone, users can still own a projector with full features, such as: Full HD resolution, support for input resolutions up to 4K; Android TV operating system, pre-installed YouTube and Netflix; dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0; built-in speakers or support for external speaker output; projection screen size of 40-100 inches, ideal for bedrooms, small living rooms, or for outdoor groups of 6-10 people.

Mini projectors are affordable, compact, and come in a variety of models.

According to surveys from several major electronics retail chains and e-commerce platforms in Vietnam, sales of mini projectors priced under 5 million VND are growing rapidly.

Technology expert Nguyen Van Cuong (TechMag Vietnam) commented: "At a price point under 5 million VND, users shouldn't expect the same high brightness or color accuracy as professional models. However, they are getting almost all the modern features that were exclusive to models costing 10 million VND or more just a few years ago."

On major tech forums like Tinh Te, Reddit Vietnam, and Facebook groups, most users share feelings of "surprising satisfaction" when choosing to buy mini projectors in this price range.

Mr. Le Thanh Nam (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City), who is currently using the HY300 Pro, shared: "I bought it to watch movies with my family on weekends. Although it's not as sharp as a cinema, just turning on Netflix directly from the device and projecting it onto a white wall makes for a super relaxing evening for the whole family. I haven't needed to upgrade yet because my needs aren't too high."

Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha ( Hai Phong ), English teacher: "I use it to teach a small class at home. It's wireless and easy to move around. At first, I thought it was just a toy, but it turned out to be surprisingly good."

However, users also want improvements on budget projectors such as image clarity even with the lights on, or a more powerful built-in battery for longer outdoor use.

Outdoor picnic nights become even more enjoyable with a mini projector.

According to electronics engineer Pham Trung Hieu from the Multi Cast Media Center ( CMC - Da Nang), current low-cost projectors use LED technology and the Android operating system, providing an experience similar to a miniature smart TV. However, users also need to understand the technical limitations of this type of device.

"The most important specification for a projector is brightness. Typically, budget models only offer around 300-500 ANSI lumens, suitable for dark or semi-dark spaces. Color and contrast are significantly inferior to high-end TVs, but still sufficient for watching movies, showing slides, or online learning."

Engineer Pham Trung Hieu commented: "This is a suitable device for 'instant projection, instant viewing' needs. If you know how to create a dark space with flat white walls, the results are truly impressive."

Is it as "delicious, nutritious, and affordable" as expected?

According to engineer Tran Duc The's advice, users should choose products based on their actual needs.

"If it's for indoor use, like in the bedroom, then image quality should be prioritized. But if it's for outdoor use, users should pay attention to models with a sturdy design and prioritize those with a battery life of at least 3 hours to be able to watch at least one movie," engineer The commented.

Furthermore, because these are budget-friendly products, consumers need to be wary of deceptive advertising tactics from some unbranded or unknown products. Currently, many products use LUX or Lumens to indicate the brightness of the device instead of ANSI or ISO lumens, which can easily lead to misunderstandings.

"Often, many inexpensive projectors advertise thousands of lumens, but in the end, it's just light-source lumens that need to be multiplied by 0.0015 to get the ANSI standard, or at best, LED lumens divided by 2.4 to get the ANSI lumens," Thế explained.

Regarding the operating system, it's important to note that only Android 9 and above can smoothly run popular online streaming apps like YouTube and Netflix. Lower-quality brands often install pirated versions of Android TV, which are prone to errors or cannot be upgraded later.

Genuine products usually come with a warranty of one year or more, along with a 1-to-1 exchange policy within one week to 30 days. Lower-priced devices (under 3.5 million VND) with comparable high specifications often only have a warranty of about three months.

Engineer Tran The added: "Often, for some models, to get the best price, manufacturers will cut back on some less important features to focus on brightness and contrast. The part that is usually cut is the speaker. Integrated speaker systems under 14W almost never provide sufficient power for outdoor use. In this case, users need to use Bluetooth speakers to satisfy their entertainment needs."

One important point to remember is: "In any usage scenario, always use a dedicated projection screen. Although common surfaces like walls and whiteboards can be used as projection surfaces, the best display quality always requires a screen," Mr. The emphasized.

Despite their low price, mini projectors still possess all the necessary functions and features to meet entertainment needs.

Furthermore, due to their limited size and power, prolonged use will cause the device to generate heat. For budget models, users should only allow the machine to rest and cool down after continuous use for about 4 hours.

Despite their popularity, experts advise that when choosing a budget-friendly portable projector, users should carefully consider brightness, resolution, connectivity, and battery life. Some models under 3.5 million VND are considered "close to the limit," and while some products achieve Full HD resolution, they may not support 4K input.

Engineer Tran Duc The - sales consultant at CellphoneS recommends: "Depending on your budget, you should prioritize models priced from 3.5 million VND and above to ensure performance, durability, and brand quality."
