After Barcelona beat Levante, Real Madrid were under pressure not to drop points against newcomer Oviedo. Coach Xabi Alonso fielded a lineup with attacking stars such as Guler, Rodrygo, and Mbappe.

Real Madrid played quite sharply in the first half, the mobility of the midfield duo Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde helped the away team completely control the match, making it impossible for Oviedo to attack.
After continuously missing good opportunities, Real Madrid made a difference in the 37th minute after Mbappe's classy finish, opening the score.
In the second half, Real Madrid suddenly slowed down and let their opponents pressure them. Oviedo, determined to find an equalizer, pushed his formation high, causing Thibaut Courtois' goal to waver several times.
However, veteran Santi Carzola and his teammates all showed a lack of composure in the final shots. Real Madrid continued to make adjustments and coach Alonso sent Vinicius, Brahim Diaz and Gonzalo Garcia onto the field.
