Argentina has announced its 29-player squad for the 2024 Copa America. Coach Lionel Scaloni will drop three players when finalizing the official squad for the tournament in June.
Lionel Messi remains the center of attention in the Argentina national team squad. Alongside the 36-year-old superstar is the core group that won the 2022 World Cup, including De Paul, Di Maria, Mac Allister, Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez, and Emiliano Martinez.
Among the rising stars of the Argentine national team, the most prominent are Manchester United striker Alejandro Garnacho and Brighton defender Valentin Barco.
However, coach Lionel Scaloni surprised many by not calling up Paulo Dybala, despite the striker's impressive form for AS Roma in the 2023/2024 season.
Argentina, the reigning Copa America champions, are expected to defend their title in this tournament. Lionel Messi and his teammates will kick off their Group A campaign against Canada on June 21st, followed by matches against Chile on June 26th and Peru on June 30th.
To prepare for the 2024 Copa America, the Argentina national team will play two friendly matches against Ecuador on June 10th and Guatemala on June 14th.
