Skype was once the go-to choice for video and audio calls, especially after Microsoft acquired it in 2011 for $8.5 billion. However, Skype has gradually lost ground, especially after the launch of Microsoft Teams in 2017 - quickly becoming the main communication platform, attracting both individual and business users.

According to the report, Skype's revenue will fall below 200 million EUR by 2022 and the number of daily users will fall below 36 million by 2023.

Microsoft announced: Skype will no longer be available starting in May. Keep calling and chatting on Teams. This confirms Microsoft's decision to shift focus to Teams.

According to records, in July 2019 Teams had 13 million users and will reach 145 million by 2021 and Skyper cannot keep up.

There’s no denying Skype’s contributions, but its time has officially come to an end. Microsoft is now encouraging users to switch to Teams before Skype shuts down for good, marking a major shift in digital communication.
