According to Neowin , Redfall is a game produced by Xbox's first-party studio, and the game has received a lot of harsh criticism since its release. Due to the negative public reaction, there has been much speculation that the studios behind Redfall will likely be killed by Microsoft.

However, Microsoft has confirmed that the studio responsible for developing the game, Arkane Austin, will remain active. Microsoft has also been relatively quiet about the title, which is probably good news for fans of the veteran studio.

The Austin studio behind Redfall will remain active after the game's disappointing launch.

In an interview with Axios, Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, tried to calm public concerns by saying that the studio would remain open and continue working on the game. Booty also said that the co-op vampire hunting game Redfall is currently performing well on Game Pass.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer also shared his thoughts on the poorly received Redfall release, saying the company would review its workflows to ensure that studios receive the support they need to avoid a repeat of this infamous launch.

Austin Arkane previously developed the beloved role-playing game Prey . The ZeniMax Media-owned studio joined the ranks of Xbox Game Studios in 2021.

Redfall 's first major bug fix update launched earlier this week, with the studio saying it's laying the groundwork for major changes to the game in the future.
