Miss Universe speaks out

On the afternoon of October 3rd, the Miss Universe organization issued a statement following the controversy surrounding allegations that Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 Bui Quynh Hoa was "given the way" by the organizers to win the crown.

"Thank you for raising your concerns about the Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 competition. We have listened to and considered this issue. The most important thing for us is that all competitions in all countries are judged fairly."

This announcement, after being posted on the Miss Universe fanpage, quickly attracted the attention of the beauty pageant community. The majority of opinions supported the Miss Universe organization clarifying the results of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 competition.

Earlier, on the evening of September 29th, the Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 final took place in Ho Chi Minh City with 18 contestants competing. The title of Miss Universe Vietnam went to contestant Bui Quynh Hoa.

Bui Quynh Hoa was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2023.

However, this result is controversial, with some rumors even suggesting that Bui Quynh Hoa was given a clear path to victory. This stems from the fact that many viewers discovered that Bui Quynh Hoa's answer was completely copied from an article found on Google.

A few months ago, when the reigning Miss Universe visited Vietnam, Quynh Hoa was also present at the welcoming ceremony along with the leaders of the Miss Universe Vietnam organization.

Following rumors of buying the award, Bui Quynh Hoa denied them, saying, "There's absolutely no truth to the claim that I was 'given the green light' to register last. I also believe that the audience will see the investment and meticulous preparation I've brought to the competition. I hope the audience will recognize this."

She also denied knowing the top 3 question beforehand. She explained that the theme of Miss Universe 2023 is the beauty of self-confidence. Miss Quynh Hoa said that she and all the other contestants had been briefed on this theme by Miss Charm 2023 - Luma Russo.

“I spent a lot of time researching this topic. I found many pieces of information that resonated with my own life. What I want to inspire everyone to do is to respect differences and the success of each individual. No one forbids people from learning anywhere, and Google is free. I like reading books and researching information online because it's convenient and I can carry my smartphone with me at all times.”

Bui Quynh Hoa sparked controversy regarding her performance in the Q&A segment and allegations of buying the award.

Bui Quynh Hoa's answer was not convincing to the audience, therefore, many people still expressed dissatisfaction and anger at this result, even demanding that the Miss Universe organization intervene to check the transparency of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 competition.
