The temporary opening of the Long Thanh interchange, as directed by the Minister of Construction, is based on proposals from the People's Committee of Dong Nai City and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. This aims to facilitate seamless traffic flow for people traveling from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to the Vung Tau area, connecting the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway with the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway.

During the temporary opening period, only cars with fewer than 9 seats are allowed on the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway, with a maximum speed of 80 km/h. It is expected that the Long Thanh interchange access points will be completed in June, and all directions will be opened to traffic at this most important interchange of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway.

Vehicles will be allowed to pass through the Long Thanh intersection from 6 PM on May 25th.

According to a representative from the Road Management Department IV, currently only this single connecting branch is operational at the Long Thanh interchange. For vehicles traveling from Dau Giay towards Ho Chi Minh City on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway, direct connection to the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway is not yet possible due to incomplete access ramps.

Vehicles traveling from Dau Giay to Ho Chi Minh City on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway that want to enter the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway to go to Vung Tau must exit the expressway, travel on National Highway 51, and make a U-turn at the roundabout to rejoin the expressway in the opposite direction towards Dau Giay.

Upon reaching the Long Thanh interchange, vehicles turn right onto the connecting ramp and continue their journey towards Vung Tau. This option is also available for vehicles from the Long Thanh and Nhon Trach areas traveling to Vung Tau and wishing to access the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway.

For cars in the Long Thanh and Nhon Trach areas wanting to travel to the center of Dong Nai city, the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway is still not connected. While waiting for the Long Thanh interchange to open its remaining access point, drivers must continue to travel on National Highway 51.

After authorities reopened the Long Thanh interchange, traffic resumed.

Previously, since 5 PM on May 18th, the entire Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway has been temporarily opened for traffic. Vehicles permitted to use it include passenger cars with fewer than 9 seats, with a maximum speed of 80 km/h and a minimum speed of 60 km/h.

Phase 1 of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway project spans nearly 54km, passing through Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City. Of this, over 34km is through Dong Nai province, and over 19km is through Ho Chi Minh City.

The route starts at Km0+000, connecting to the National Highway 1A bypass (Vo Nguyen Giap road), Phuoc Tan ward, Dong Nai city; and ends at Km53+700, intersecting with National Highway 56 in Tam Long ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The project was initially planned to have 4 to 6 lanes. The total initial investment was nearly 18,000 billion VND from public investment funds, but due to various reasons, the National Assembly later approved an increase in capital to over 22,000 billion VND.
