At exactly 10:00 AM on June 1st, as the bell signaling the end of the Literature exam rang, thousands of students at the entrance exam centers for 10th grade at public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City quickly left the exam rooms in a relatively relaxed mood.
At many examination centers, the majority of students felt that this year's exam questions were of moderate difficulty, thought-provoking, and allowed them to easily express their personal thoughts and opinions.

At the exam site at Truong Thanh Secondary School, many students emerged from the school gate with smiles on their faces. Groups of friends quickly gathered to discuss the exam questions, compare their methods, and predict their potential scores.
Em Nhu Quynh, a student in class 9A3 at Long Phuoc Secondary School, said that the exam was not too difficult compared to the types of questions she had reviewed beforehand. “I found the reading comprehension section quite interesting because it talked about emotions and human values. The social commentary section was also a topic familiar to students, so I was able to answer most of the questions,” Quynh shared.
According to many candidates, the reading comprehension material from the work "The Robot Who Thought He Was Human" offers a fresh perspective on human emotions, memories, and identity in the context of rapidly developing technology. The questions were assessed as differentiating but still appropriate for the abilities of 9th-grade students.
At the exam center at Vo Truong Toan Secondary School, the atmosphere after the exam was quite lively. Many students said they were initially a little nervous because this was the first subject of the 10th grade entrance exam, but after reading the questions, their minds gradually calmed down.
Hoang Minh Duc said that this year's exam allowed students to express their personal thoughts instead of memorizing. "I liked the social commentary section because it connected to real life. I think I can get around 7 to 8 points if I don't make any presentation errors," Duc said.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Khanh Vy commented that the exam questions were topical, addressing the emotions of young people in modern society. "The questions weren't tricky. As long as you understood the issue and had real-life experience, you could develop your essay quite easily," Vy shared.
Not only students, but many parents also breathed a sigh of relief when they saw their children leaving the exam site in cheerful spirits. At Truong Thanh Secondary School, many parents had been waiting for about 30 minutes before the end of the exam. When they saw their children leaving the school gate with bright smiles, the tension on their faces seemed to dissipate.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, a parent whose child is taking the exam at Vo Truong Toan Secondary School, said the most important thing is for her child to maintain a stable mindset. "The first subject usually creates a lot of pressure. Seeing my child say they did well on the exam makes the family feel much more at ease," Ms. Hong shared.
According to observations at many examination centers, the majority of candidates assessed this year's literature exam as open-ended, encouraging independent thinking and the ability to relate to real-world situations. Many students are confident they can achieve a good score if they present all the ideas fully and meet the requirements of the exam.
Besides the joy of finishing the first exam, the candidates quickly shifted their focus to the foreign language exam taking place in the afternoon. Many took the opportunity to review vocabulary, grammar, and common question types before returning to the exam center.

At the examination sites, the Red Phoenix volunteer force continued to provide drinking water and guidance to candidates and parents during the time between the two examination sessions.
Security, order, and traffic control measures were also maintained to facilitate the movement of candidates.
With positive feedback from students after the Literature exam, the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City is off to a relatively smooth start. The confidence gained after the first exam is expected to help candidates approach the foreign language exam with greater initiative and determination, continuing their journey to conquer their desired high school.
