Expanding cooperation between Nhan Dan Newspaper and Yonhap News Agency

(CLO) On December 11th, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, received Mr. Hwang Dae-il, Chairman and CEO of Yonhap News Agency (South Korea), who visited and worked at the Nhan Dan Newspaper headquarters.

Also attending the reception were Comrade Vu Viet Trang, Director General of the Vietnam News Agency; leaders of several departments and specialized units of the Nhan Dan Newspaper; leaders of the International Relations Department of Yonhap News Agency and Yonhap's resident correspondent in Vietnam.

Welcoming the delegation from Yonhap News Agency to the Nhan Dan Newspaper, on behalf of the leadership, staff, and employees of the newspaper, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh expressed his pleasure in welcoming and thanking Chairman and CEO of Yonhap News Agency Hwang Dae-il and the members of the delegation for visiting the editorial office.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh shared that, under the guidance of the Party and the State, Nhan Dan Newspaper focuses on becoming the most important print and online newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam .

“In Vietnam, Nhan Dan Newspaper is the media outlet with the largest print circulation nationwide. However, given the declining trend of print newspaper reading worldwide , the development of this format in Vietnam is also somewhat affected. We strive to maintain and develop print newspapers, while simultaneously identifying investment in online newspapers as a long-term strategy,” journalist Le Quoc Minh added.

The comrade further informed that the relationship between Vietnam and South Korea is developing well, promoting cooperation in many fields such as economics, culture, and education. The task of media agencies from both countries is to contribute to promoting this relationship to develop even more strongly, building a solid relationship between the people of the two countries.

Previously, during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam, Choi Young Sam, in March 2024, both sides emphasized the importance of launching a Korean-language version of Nhan Dan Newspaper's publications. This would allow for wider access to Korean readers in Vietnam and around the world. "This project has been approved, and we will strive to launch the first Korean-language content in the first quarter of 2025," Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh stated.

"The fact that Nhan Dan Newspaper is also pushing to launch a Korean-language version and Yonhap News Agency is preparing to launch a Vietnamese-language version shows that the relationship between the two countries is expanding. Information transmitted between the two sides will be faster, more direct, and more accurate without having to go through another intermediary language," Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh emphasized.
