A passenger named Michael Tjendara, one of the people on Garuda Indonesia flight GA716, reported losing his phone on the plane.
Mr. Michael said he left his phone in the seat pocket in front of him when he changed seats shortly after takeoff. When he returned to his original seat, he discovered his phone was missing.

The customer then posted the story of losing his phone on his personal Instagram account along with a series of screenshots from the Find My iPhone feature (finding an iPhone, one of the features for the iPhone line).
The series of photos shows the visitor tracking the stolen phone to a location near the Southbank Promenade in Melbourne (Australia).
Michael said the phone's signal was last recorded between 5:50 a.m. and 4:40 p.m., before the device began moving toward the Evan Walker Bridge. The final photo from the location feature shows that someone threw the phone into the Yarra River in Australia.
According to the guest's argument, when he returned to his original seat, he realized that the phone had "disappeared". He believed that the device was not simply lost but stolen.

Later that day, Find My iPhone found the phone's signal at the Southbank Hotel, the same area where the flight crew had just checked in.
Shortly after, the phone signal died under a bridge on the Yarra River. Mr Michael believes that someone threw the phone into the river to destroy the evidence.
Surprised by these discoveries, Mr. Michael reported to the police in Victoria (Australia) and the Indonesian national police.
"This is not just a stolen phone, it also involves the safety and trust of customers when using the airline's services," the customer emphasized.
The incident has caused a stir in public opinion in Indonesia in recent days.
In a press statement on June 9, Garuda Indonesia's Director of Sales and Cargo Ade R. Susardi confirmed that the entire crew on duty that day had been suspended.
“We are in contact with the guest involved and are committed to supporting the guest throughout the entire process,” he said.
Garuda Indonesia also spoke out after the incident. The airline sent a representative to support passenger Michael in Melbourne and helped him file a police report.
Mr. Susardi also apologized on behalf of the airline for the incident.
"We confirm that immediately after receiving the notification that a passenger had lost his phone on the plane, the entire crew followed standard operating and safety procedures. This included immediately coordinating with the authorities at the airport to search for it," he said.
In a statement on June 12, Garuda Indonesia said that the Indonesian National Police had officially stepped in. The investigation is currently being accelerated to clarify the responsibilities of the individuals involved, ensuring the safety and reputation of future passengers.
