Many candidates and parents are confused by the sudden change in the announcement of admission scores of Hanoi Capital University.
Specifically, after announcing the official benchmark scores on the afternoon of August 22, the school suddenly made a second announcement announcing that the admission scores for some majors based on the C00 combination (literature, history, geography) increased by 0.75 points, causing many candidates who thought they had passed to suddenly fail their wishes.
The incident originated on the afternoon of August 22, when Hanoi Capital University issued Notice No. 1324 on the standard scores for regular universities in 2025. This document announced the general admission score ranging from 20.86 to 27.38 points and had a rather general line: "The admission score is the score after equivalent conversion between methods".
This announcement does not clarify which combination the final benchmark is calculated on, causing confusion for candidates.

By the afternoon of August 23, nearly a day after the first announcement, the school's official Facebook page posted another announcement, citing document number 1327 (signed on the same day as August 22 but 3 numbers later) to announce specific benchmark scores for candidates using combination C00.
It is worth mentioning that the benchmark scores of 10 majors in this group all increased by 0.75 points compared to the initial announcement.
This incident caused a negative reaction. Many candidates relied on the first announcement to compare their scores and thought they had passed, but were "shocked" when the benchmark scores were adjusted.
Immediately, a series of comments flooded the school's Facebook page, demanding a clear explanation.
According to research, the reason for this change lies in a previous announcement by the school about the floor score threshold, issued on July 23.
In this document, the school stipulates: "For majors with combination C00, the remaining combinations (not combination C00) will be added 0.75 points on a 30-point scale".

However, this very provision is the key point of misunderstanding.
A candidate shared: "The school only said that other combinations would be given extra points, but did not mention that combination C00 would be given an extra 0.75 points when considering the benchmark score. Furthermore, the two documents announcing the benchmark score were not announced at the same time, making us think we passed but failed."
On the afternoon of August 24, Hanoi Capital University officially spoke up about the above issue. According to the school, on July 23, the school made a public announcement (announcement No. 1167/TB-DHTĐHN) determining the difference in scores between the C00 group and other admission groups for the method of using high school exam scores to consider admission to majors. Accordingly, groups other than the C00 group will be added 0.75 points on a 30-point scale.
"The school reaffirms that the information about the deviation in scores of the C00 combination has been publicly disclosed by the school clearly and transparently, in accordance with regulations and on time," the announcement stated.
Explaining the announcement of benchmark scores in two documents, this unit said that this helps candidates to conveniently look up information, especially for candidates using combination C00 according to the high school exam score method for admission.
However, this unit admitted that the decision to announce the admission scores in two announcements was initially intended to be clear, transparent, and to facilitate candidates in looking up information.
However, the technique of issuing documents in a disjointed manner caused misunderstandings among candidates and parents, thereby creating negative public opinion. Hanoi Capital University has severely criticized the individuals in charge and seriously learned from their experiences to better implement the work of enrollment, communication, and enrollment consulting.
Although the school spoke up to explain, many opinions still said they disagreed with this announcement because it was clear that the school's information lacked logic and was unscientific .
