50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 93RD INFANTRY REGIMENT (March 25, 1975 - March 25, 2025)

Regardless of the stage or the task, generations of officers and soldiers of the 93rd Infantry Regiment always demonstrate their will, determination and bravery. Once deployed, they are victorious and once implemented, they are successful.

Glorious victory

50 years ago, on March 25, 1975, in Xuan My village (Phuoc Hiep commune, Tuy Phuoc district), the Command of Military Region 5 decided to establish the 93rd Infantry Regiment on the basis of the core independent battalions of Binh Dinh province including: Infantry Battalion 50, Infantry Battalion 52, Infantry Battalion 8 and Artillery Battalion 73.

The Regiment's mission is to urgently prepare all aspects of politics , ideology, food, provisions, and strong enough weapons... to enter the General Offensive campaign under the slogan "all for the frontline, all for victory".

Immediately after its establishment, the Regiment proactively coordinated with the military and civilians of the Eastern Region, Quy Nhon City to attack and liberate Quy Nhon City on March 31, liberating Binh Dinh. Following that, over 300 officers and soldiers of the Regiment were added to the main units participating in the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign to liberate Saigon, completely liberate the South, and end the war against the US to save the country.

After the liberation day, the officers and soldiers of the Regiment continued to go to the Central Highlands to carry out new missions such as hunting down Fulro, training new recruits, doing business ... The Southwestern border war broke out in 1979, the 93rd Regiment was mobilized to join the 2nd Division (Military Region 5) to continue its international mission to help Cambodia. After completing its international mission, the Regiment was added to the 307th Division until now, currently stationed in Quang Ngai province...

In any difficult and fierce circumstances, the officers and soldiers of the 93rd Infantry Regiment were always resilient, participating in extremely fierce battles, achieving exceptionally outstanding feats, contributing to writing an immortal heroic epic about passionate patriotism.

With outstanding achievements in combat, units of the 93rd Infantry Regiment such as Battalion 50 and Battalion 52 were awarded the title of People's Armed Forces Hero by the President; the Regiment was also awarded 2 Military Exploit Medals...

Warm comradeship, teammates

The soldiers of the past are no longer young, some have to fight with injuries, illnesses, and constant pain. But when they met again at the meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the 93rd Infantry Regiment, which took place in Quy Nhon City on March 23, the "soldier" spirit of these veterans was still as fresh as the time when they carried guns and charged into the battlefield... The meeting was short but filled with comradeship and team spirit.

In 1976, veteran Ly Van Muoi (71 years old, in Nhon Tan commune, An Nhon town) enlisted in Company 2, Battalion 7, Infantry Regiment 93. Mr. Muoi said that in April 1977, the Regiment was ordered to Dak Lak and was under the management of Group 333 to do business. In just 6 years (1976 - 1982), officers, soldiers and employees of Group 333 reclaimed 10,780 hectares of land, built 5 reservoirs and fish farms, built 90 km of graded roads; built a series of factories, camps, and public works; formed mechanical and carpentry workshops; processed sugar and alcohol; pharmaceutical enterprise... "In particular, we also carried out the task of being ready to fight, ensuring the safety of a large area of land; destroying the bases of the Fulro reactionary forces, contributing to fulfilling the task of the direct rear of the southwestern border battlefield during the years when the country entered a new war to repel the invaders," Mr. Muoi recalled.

Talking about the years with his comrades in the Regiment on international missions to help Cambodia, veteran Thai Ngo Ha (64 years old, Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province) shared: Those were the years of "sharing life, sharing death", the comradeship was sacred, deep and as strong as the heart and soul. Death is of course scary, but if everyone is afraid of death, who will go to war? We asked ourselves that and always encouraged each other to fight the enemy!

Every time we meet, seeing our comrades and teammates still healthy, the wounds that have tormented the veterans of Regiment 93 for many years seem to disappear. Traveling more than 1,000 km to Binh Dinh to meet his comrades, veteran Pham Van Vinh (65 years old, in Thuy Nguyen City, Hai Phong City) emotionally expressed: "Today's meeting is truly meaningful, because there are comrades who have been separated for many years and now meet again. Today, we get to relive a past full of hardships and sacrifices but also full of pride."
