MU wants Gyokeres and is willing to include Antony in the deal. |
According to Goal , Gyokeres reportedly revealed to friends and family that he "wants to play for Arsenal next season". The London club is lacking a top-class striker and considers Gyokeres a prime target.
However, MU unexpectedly made a strong comeback. The Old Trafford club is reportedly considering sending an offer to exchange Antony plus 35 million euros to persuade Sporting to release him. Antony had an impressive half-season on loan at Real Betis and is a reasonable "exchange option".
Antony's future at Manchester United is uncertain as he, along with Rashford, Garnacho, and Sancho, are reportedly not participating in the club's summer tour of the United States. Furthermore, former Manchester United scout Mick Brown revealed that the Red Devils are also considering other options if they fail to beat Arsenal in this transfer.
If Sporting agrees, Gyokeres could become Manchester United's second signing of the summer, following Matheus Cunha's £62.5 million transfer. However, the possibility of Gyokeres agreeing to move to Old Trafford remains open, as United will not qualify for European competition next season.
The Swedish star had a breakout season in Portugal, scoring 52 goals in all competitions and becoming one of the most effective strikers in Europe. This form has made him a highly sought-after target in the summer of 2025.
Arsenal, Manchester United, and Juventus are all interested in signing Gyokeres. Juventus, in particular, reportedly submitted a lucrative offer worth €13 million per year in salary, but the 27-year-old striker rejected it. Meanwhile, Sporting remains firm in its position.
Sporting chairman Frederico Varandas publicly criticized Gyokeres for "pressuring" him with claims of a "secret agreement" between the two sides regarding a €60 million sale price plus €10 million in add-ons. Varandas completely denied this information and affirmed that Sporting had not received any official offer.
