The transfer of Mbeumo to Manchester United is unlikely to happen.

The race to sign Bryan Mbeumo is heating up every day. According to the Daily Mail , Tottenham Hotspur have unexpectedly made a bold move with an offer far exceeding that of Manchester United.

Specifically, Spurs have submitted an offer to Brentford worth £70 million (including £65 million fixed and £5 million in add-ons), significantly higher than the £60 million offer previously made by Manchester United (£50 million plus £10 million in add-ons).

Manchester United remains Mbeumo's preferred destination, especially given their ability to offer a lucrative salary of up to £200,000 per week (including bonuses), while Tottenham can only afford around £130,000-£140,000 per week. However, Spurs' biggest advantage right now lies in their personnel: manager Thomas Frank, who worked closely with Mbeumo at Brentford since 2019, is now keen to reunite with his former player at Tottenham.

Frank's arrival and Spurs' ambition to secure a Champions League spot next season have made him a viable option for Mbeumo. Meanwhile, Brentford maintain their stance that the Cameroonian striker, who scored 20 goals and provided 7 assists in the Premier League last season, is worth £70 million.

Notably, Mbeumo is only behind Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland in the top scorer list, an achievement that proves he is capable of shining at any big club.

Manchester United, after spending heavily to acquire Matheus Cunha for £60 million, seem unwilling to raise their bid for Mbeumo further. This could open the door for Tottenham to complete the deal in the near future. Brentford have also prepared for the departure of their star striker, as his current contract has only one year remaining with an option to extend.

With his talent, consistent form, and ability to operate across a wide tactical formation, Bryan Mbeumo is not only a quality signing but could also be the first strong affirmation of Thomas Frank's reign at Spurs.
