Audiences expect "Red Rain" to become the highest-grossing Vietnamese film ever.
According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, on the afternoon of September 5th, the film "Red Rain" surpassed 500 billion VND in revenue after 15 days of release. This achievement places director Dang Thai Huyen's work in the top 2 highest-grossing Vietnamese films of all time, after "Mai" with 551 billion VND. With its current popularity, many people expect this film about revolutionary war to soon surpass Tran Thanh's project in the coming days.
Since its release, "Red Rain" has created a sensation, consistently topping the box office. On September 5th alone (up to 8 PM), the film grossed over 18.7 billion VND, equivalent to 199,273 tickets, far surpassing competitors like "Making Money with Ghosts: The Diamond War" (3.1 billion VND) and "Ghost Bride" (1.8 billion VND). Prior to this, the film also set several box office records, becoming the highest-grossing Vietnamese film in a single day (55 billion VND) and making Dang Thai Huyen the first Vietnamese female director to have a film surpass the 300 billion VND mark.
According to data from Box Office Vietnam, Hanoi had the highest audience for " Red Rain ," helping the film earn over 147 billion VND (as of September 2nd), contributing one-third of the film's total revenue. Simultaneously, it also had the highest seat occupancy rate, highest revenue, and most tickets sold.

The cast was moved by the audience's affection for "Red Rain".
The agency stated that in previous years, the audience market in the South, especially Ho Chi Minh City, always accounted for the highest proportion of the total revenue of feature films. However, 2025 saw several films achieve high revenue with audiences mainly from provinces and cities in the North. "Hopefully, the success of 'Red Rain' will create more motivation for film production companies in the North to invest heavily and bring more new works to the market," Box Office Vietnam shared.
Special screening of 'Red Rain'
On the evening of September 4th, at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel historical site, the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the People's Army Film Studio, organized a screening of the film "Red Rain" . This was considered a meaningful tribute, an opportunity to remember and honor the heroic sacrifices of the martyrs, and to express deep gratitude to the people, agencies, units, and localities that accompanied the film crew throughout the production process.
“Through this activity, the People's Army Film Studio hopes to widely disseminate the great historical values, affirming the patriotic tradition and the indomitable fighting spirit of our army and people. This is also an opportunity to educate about revolutionary traditions, awaken national pride, and foster the aspiration for contribution and responsibility of the younger generation in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland,” the Red Rain team shared.
