People in Dong Tien area are preparing rice seedlings to complete planting according to the seasonal schedule.
For farmers, the past year was not very favorable. At the beginning of the 2024-2025 Spring-Summer crop season, the weather was dry with little rain, causing localized water shortages. The Summer crop season was severely affected by successive storms and floods... However, with the decisive and consistent guidance of the Party committees and government at all levels, and the consensus and proactive spirit of the people, agricultural production in the commune has maintained stable growth.
The entire commune has planted 1,502 hectares of annual crops, including 1,183 hectares of rice with an average yield of 52 quintals/hectare, producing 6,332 tons. In addition, there are 129 hectares of corn yielding 665.6 tons, 50 hectares of cassava, and 190 hectares of various green vegetables...
To ensure productivity, quality, and economic efficiency, the commune has proactively coordinated with the Yen Lap Cluster Plant Cultivation and Protection Station to conduct surveys, estimates, forecasts, and direct pest and disease control for crops and livestock; and implemented comprehensive measures to promptly contain and suppress outbreaks, preventing widespread transmission.
In addition, the application of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) on crops has been promoted. The commune has two designated growing areas: rice (200 ha) and asparagus (2.1 ha)... The commune government has coordinated with the Cam Khe Irrigation Station and the Phu Lac Agricultural Cooperative to manage irrigation and drainage water supply for production, ensuring that the local agricultural needs are met accurately, sufficiently, and promptly.
Disaster prevention and control, as well as search and rescue efforts, have received strong attention and direction; specialized agencies regularly inspect irrigation works, monitor weather developments, and promptly warn the people; they proactively deploy forces, equipment, and supplies to respond to disasters, ensuring human safety, minimizing property damage, and quickly stabilizing people's lives.
Following the success of the main crop season, the Party Committee, government, and people of the commune have promptly implemented the spring-summer crop production with the determination to expand the planted area and combine it with appropriate crop restructuring. Along with this, the locality focuses on applying scientific and technical advancements comprehensively, promoting mechanization in production to improve productivity, quality, value, and economic efficiency.
At the same time, the commune focuses on developing agricultural production towards large-scale, concentrated commodity production, strengthening linkages in production and product consumption, thereby increasing farmers' income, ensuring food security, and contributing to achieving the socio-economic development goals for 2026.
This year, Hung Viet commune planted 817 hectares of rice during the spring crop season, including 269 hectares of hybrid rice and 530 hectares of high-quality purebred rice. Along with that, there were 50 hectares of corn, 50 hectares of cassava, 10 hectares of peanuts, and nearly 70 hectares of various vegetables and legumes. Based on the local situation, the commune set a goal of planting all the planned area, ensuring no fields are left uncultivated or crops are abandoned. Accordingly, the commune directed the implementation of various solutions.
Accordingly, the commune focused on directing the synchronized implementation of solutions: effectively implementing the tea and seed structure, sowing seedlings according to the province's seasonal schedule; encouraging land consolidation and concentration associated with the construction of single-crop fields, and promoting the application of scientific and technical advancements and mechanization in production.
At the same time, the locality is converting inefficient rice land areas to concentrated vegetable and fruit production, large-scale commodity production, and the application of high technology; promoting production linkages in key crop areas, focusing on and connecting the development of growing areas with facilities for preliminary processing, preservation, and processing of products.
In addition, the commune is strengthening contract-based production, ensuring food safety, organizing production and certification according to VietGAP standards; building trademarks and tracing product origins using QR codes; gradually establishing and developing growing areas and granting growing area codes to serve domestic consumption and export, creating favorable conditions for businesses to link production, procurement, transportation and consumption of local agricultural products.
By this time, the commune has basically completed all production activities for the Spring-Summer crop season according to plan. Ms. Vi Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Hung Viet Commune, affirmed: “Clearly recognizing the special importance of the Spring-Summer crop to the lives of the people as well as the socio-economic development tasks of the locality, the commune has focused on directing and implementing many effective solutions, suitable to the actual conditions of the locality, ensuring a successful harvest. Propaganda work has been strengthened with many flexible and creative forms, focusing on providing full and timely information to the people on weather developments; disseminating the province's policies and guidelines; introducing effective production models and exemplary cases, intensive farming techniques, new crop varieties, market information, prices; and food safety. Agricultural production support services have been fully, promptly, and effectively implemented. In particular, thanks to close and regular coordination with the Cam Khe Irrigation Enterprise and the Phu Lac Agricultural Service Cooperative, the canal system in the area has been dredged.” "Drain and ensure a sufficient and timely supply of water for land preparation and planting within the correct timeframe."
Agricultural production depends on many factors, especially weather patterns. However, the sense of responsibility and high determination demonstrated through concrete and practical activities of the Party Committee, government, and people of Hung Viet commune are a solid foundation for another successful harvest.
