Sparkling colors

Meticulously crafted lines, beautifully colored accents.

In the tranquil setting of An Yen Station, the students participating in the Lunar New Year painting class are intently focused on their paintings. On the canvas, each small detail with its shimmering colors gradually becomes clearer and more vibrant.

Artist Tuyet Loan shared: “These are relief paintings created from glass sand, acrylic paint, and milk glue. Thanks to the varying thickness of the materials and the shimmering effect of the tiny glass particles, this type of painting creates an incredibly delicate 3D effect.”

Not only visually appealing, but thanks to their unique texture, glass relief paintings also provide a relaxing and "healing" sensation to the artist when touched. Therefore, with the goal of creating a fresh and unique experiential space, the young female artist chose this type of painting for her students to showcase their skills with palette knives and brushes.

At the workshop, from mixing colors and sand to techniques for using palette knives and brushes, students are meticulously guided to create a unique New Year's painting that reflects their personal style.

Choosing the image of white plum blossoms to paint, Thao Van, a participant in the workshop, said: “For me, white plum blossoms not only announce the arrival of spring, but also symbolize purity and freshness. Therefore, I want to convey my wish for a peaceful and lucky new year through these vibrant flowers.”

Sending wishes

To achieve the maximum aesthetic effect for the plum blossom painting, instead of the traditional bright red, artist Tuyet Loan instructed Ms. Van to use a deep red tone as the main background for the painting. She explained: "Being more subtle and soothing to the eye, deep red evokes a sense of good fortune and creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. Therefore, it's a suitable color to both highlight the plum blossoms and be applicable to everyday life."

Wishing you a peaceful and lucky new year.

After completing the deep red background, Ms. Van was instructed to use a palette knife to "draw" each petal. After more than three hours of meticulous work, Ms. Van's vibrant and lively painting of white plum blossoms was completed. She happily shared: "I will hang this painting in the living room, where I can see it every day. I hope that in the new year, my family will have peace and good fortune, as I have expressed in this painting."

Sharing the same wish as Ms. Van, other participants in the workshop expressed their hopes and aspirations for the new year through relief paintings. Ms. Huong Tra, a participant, said: “At this workshop, I painted a picture of young sprouts. I hope the freshness and vitality of these green shoots will bring good luck and blessings in the new year.”

Meaningful and practical, the relief painting workshop is more than just an experiential activity; it's a place where students can immerse themselves in the world of art. "That's why, not just this Tet holiday, but every year I organize this workshop so students can unleash their creativity and relax. I hope the sparkling colors in each painting will bring the spirit of spring to everyone," shared artist Tuyet Loan.
