On May 21, during the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The two discussed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Washington.
Sharing on Twitter after the aforementioned meeting, Foreign Minister Antony Blinken expressed satisfaction with the content of the discussions and emphasized the deep partnership between the two countries. The diplomat also said he looked forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington DC on June 22nd.
The purpose of the visit was to underscore the growing importance of the strategic partnership between India and the United States, given that the two countries have already collaborated in various fields.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the welcoming program for Mr. Modi will include a state dinner hosted by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
The White House confirmed this information, while emphasizing its shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific.
Washington also stated that, during the visit, the leaders of the two countries would discuss their desire to strengthen their strategic partnership in technology, including defense, clean energy, and space.
Biden and Modi will also discuss expanding educational exchanges, people-to-people relations, and addressing common challenges such as climate change, human resource development, and health security.
