President Trump told reporters at the G7 summit in France: "We've finalized a deal with Iran, and it's going to work, we're going to move on to the second round of negotiations, which I think will be easier."
Meanwhile, on the same day, June 16, Iran indicated that talks with the US on its nuclear program and sanctions relief could begin later this week, as President Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would be fully open after the two sides officially sign an agreement.
Nuclear negotiations aimed at reaching a final agreement will take place within 60 days of the formal signing of the memorandum to end the nearly four-month-long Iran war.
According to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, a new round of talks between Iran and the United States will begin in Switzerland on June 19, focusing on the nuclear issue and the lifting of sanctions against Iran.
The first phase, lasting from the outbreak of the conflict until June 15th, focused on issues such as ending hostilities, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, the maritime blockade, and post-war reconstruction. The most significant outcome was the completion of a memorandum of understanding between the two sides, which included a commitment to immediately and permanently cease hostilities on all fronts.

According to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Islamic Republic's top negotiator will attend the signing ceremony in Switzerland.
On the US side, Vice President JD Vance will represent the country. Mr. Vance said that President Trump may attend the signing ceremony.
These developments come after President Trump announced that Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz would be completely lifted on June 19th. This would be a major boost to the global economy .
Iranian state television reported that Iranian oil tankers and other vessels have resumed shipping operations following the agreement. Takht-Ravanchi, Iran's Vice Foreign Minister for Political Affairs , stated that the US embargo "was lifted before the official signing."
