On September 12, the Japanese government sent a strong protest note to North Korea regarding the launch of multiple short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea that same day.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense stated that North Korea's ongoing actions, including missile launches, pose a threat to the peace and security of Japan, the region, and the international community. On the same day, the United States condemned the ballistic missile launch, reaffirming Washington's defense commitment to protecting its allies in the region (South Korea and Japan).
According to Yonhap News Agency, citing the South Korean Foreign Ministry, the nuclear envoys of South Korea, the United States, and Japan held a telephone conversation to discuss North Korea's latest missile launch. The three parties condemned the launch as a clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions prohibiting Pyongyang from conducting any such launches; they agreed that the launch poses a serious threat to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the wider region.
