The Japanese Ministry of Defense said that North Korea's ongoing actions, including missile launches, pose a threat to the peace and security of Japan, the region and the international community. On the same day, the United States condemned the ballistic missile launch, reaffirming Washington's defense commitment to the defense of its allies in the region (South Korea and Japan).

Yonhap news agency quoted the South Korean Foreign Ministry as saying that nuclear envoys from South Korea, the US and Japan had a phone call to discuss North Korea's latest missile launch. The three sides condemned North Korea's missile launch as a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions that prohibit Pyongyang from carrying out any such launches; they agreed that the launch posed a serious threat to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and beyond.
