The Supreme People's Court has just issued a plan to verify assets and income in 2024. This is an annual activity, aimed at implementing regulations in the Law on Prevention and Combat of Corruption.
In 2024, the Supreme People's Court will verify assets and income for 60 people
Verification of assets and income will help review and evaluate the accuracy and conclusions about the truthfulness of the declaration of assets and income; At the same time, control fluctuations in assets and income of those who are obliged to declare.
In particular, the verification results also contribute to preventing, detecting, and handling corrupt acts (if any) and building a team of clean, honest, and strong officials and civil servants.
According to the plan, in 2024, the Supreme People's Court will verify assets and income for 60 individuals. These people belong to the court units: High People's Court in Hanoi, People's Court 2 levels of Hai Phong City, People's Court 2 levels of Thua Thien - Hue province, People's Court 2 levels of Tien Giang province, People's Court 2 levels of Long An province.
At each of the above agencies, the authorities will select at least 10% of people who are obliged to declare assets and annual income for verification. The selection is done in the form of a random draw.
The person selected to verify assets and income needs to meet two criteria: be a person obligated to declare assets and income annually; and assets and income have not been verified for the previous 2 years.
People who do not choose to verify assets and income include: people being investigated, prosecuted, or tried; people being treated for a serious illness certified by a competent medical agency; and people who are studying or working abroad for 12 months or more.
Regarding the verification process, the Supreme People's Court's plan clearly states that the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court will issue a decision to verify and establish an asset and income verification team according to Article 45 of the Law on Prevention and Combat of Corruption.
Next, the asset and income verification team verifies assets and income for those selected for verification.
After completing the verification at each unit, the head of the asset and income verification team reports the results and draft verification conclusions, and submits them to the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court to issue a verification conclusion.
Publicizing the conclusion of verification of assets and income is carried out like publicizing the declaration of assets and income specified in Article 39 of the Law on Prevention and Combat of Corruption.
