According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, a widespread heatwave will occur in the Northwest region and the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen from March 31 to April 4.
As of now, April 9th is the hottest day in Southern Vietnam during this year's dry season.
In the Central Highlands, hot weather occurred from April 3rd to 8th; this heatwave started earlier than the average of previous years.
In the southeastern region of Vietnam, widespread heatwaves occurred, with some areas experiencing intense heat lasting from March 26th to April 10th. The heatwave then extended to the southwestern region. During these heatwaves, some weather stations recorded absolute daily temperatures exceeding historical records.
During the period from March 11th to April 10th, the average temperature in the Northern region and the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue was generally 2-3 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average; except for Muong Te ( Lai Chau ), which was 0.3 degrees Celsius lower than the multi-year average.
Other areas across the country experienced temperatures 0.5-1.5 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average.
For Southern Vietnam, April 9th was the hottest day since the beginning of the dry season and also recorded the highest temperatures in history at many weather stations. Specifically, Bien Hoa ( Dong Nai ) reached 40°C, Long Khanh (Dong Nai) 39.5°C, and Thu Dau Mot (Binh Duong) 39.2°C.
Forecasts indicate that from April 11th to May 10th, average temperatures nationwide will generally be 1-2 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average. In particular, some areas in the Northwest and Central regions may experience temperatures 2-3 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average.
