At the recent announcement ceremony for the Mui Ne National Tourist Area development plan, leaders of Lam Dong province affirmed that this is an important milestone marking the transition from a "famous destination" to a "strategic development driver" for local tourism.
According to the published plan, Mui Ne National Tourist Area covers approximately 14,760 hectares, stretching along the southeastern coastal region of the province, with the aim of developing it into a center for seaside resorts, water sports , and international events.
The Mui Ne National Tourist Area development plan is considered a crucial step in concretizing the strategy of making tourism a key economic sector of the province. According to the plan, the tourist area will develop according to a modern, green, and sustainable coastal tourism urban model, linked to the preservation of natural landscapes and local cultural identity.
This event takes place amidst the implementation of many key transportation infrastructure projects, especially Phan Thiet Airport and regional connecting expressways. Currently, the expressway system has significantly shortened travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne to approximately 2-2.5 hours, instead of 4-5 hours as before. This is considered a key factor in expanding accessibility to the destination and providing a boost to tourism.
Mr. Dinh Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the province has identified beach tourism as one of the important growth pillars in the coming period. "We will focus on improving infrastructure, enhancing the investment environment, and raising the quality of services to make Mui Ne a leading destination in the region," Mr. Tuan said.

A view of Mui Ne National Tourist Area
According to the development plan until 2030, Mui Ne Tourist Area will focus on developing distinctive products such as high-end resorts, water sports, conference and event tourism, along with large-scale cultural activities and festivals.
Experts believe that with its year-round sunny climate, unique landscape, and early-established resort system, Mui Ne has many conditions to become an international-class beach tourism center. Proper planning will help overcome the previous fragmented development and simultaneously improve the quality of the visitor experience.
A representative of a tourism business in Mui Ne said that the business community has high expectations for this new phase of development. According to this representative, when Phan Thiet airport becomes operational at the end of 2027, the number of domestic and international tourists is expected to increase sharply, creating opportunities to expand investment in high-end tourism products and new services.
Beyond just tourism, the development of the Mui Ne National Tourist Area is also expected to create a ripple effect on the local socio-economic development. The growth of tourism will lead to a greater demand for services, trade, and logistics, creating more jobs and increasing income for coastal residents.
With a planned area of 14,760 hectares and strategic infrastructure projects nearing completion, Mui Ne National Tourist Area is expected to enter a period of rapid growth, becoming a prominent seaside tourist destination in Vietnam and the region in the coming years.
