At the close of trading on August 12, the VN-Index rose 6.6 points (+0.54%), closing at 1,230 points.

At the opening of trading on August 12th, investors were cautious in buying and selling securities, so the market saw only a negligible increase in points during the morning session.

Entering the afternoon session, the positive trend was maintained in several large-cap stocks such asFPT , GVR, and GAS, supporting the overall index. Towards the end of the session, a sudden increase in buying pressure helped boost the prices of stocks in the banking, securities, retail, and oil sectors.

Most notably, the group of 30 large-cap stocks (VN30) saw 19 gainers, including FPT (+2.4%), SSI (+2.2%), GVR (+2.2%), PLX (+1.8%), MWG (+1.5%),… contributing to the market's extended upward momentum.

At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose 6.6 points (+0.54%), closing at 1,230 points. Liquidity was low with 494 million shares traded on the HOSE exchange.

According to Rong Viet Securities Company (VDSC), the decrease in liquidity compared to the previous session indicates that supporting capital flows remain cautious, and the upward momentum on August 12th was mainly due to the weakening supply of shares.

"In the next trading session, the VN-Index is likely to reach 1,240 points, but this will create significant selling pressure. Investors can expect a market recovery but should refrain from chasing stocks," VDSC forecasts and recommends.

From another perspective, Vietcombank Securities Company (VCBS) believes that demand for stocks has gradually returned, helping the market to rise.

"With this trend, investors can gradually disburse funds into stocks that attract steady cash flow. Some sectors to watch out for include oil and gas, shipping and port services, and retail," advised Mr. Tran Minh Hoang, Director of Research and Analysis at VCBS.
