Coach Carlo Ancelotti continues to exclude Neymar from the Brazilian national team's squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September.

Neymar has never once played for the Brazilian national team under new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

According to Globo , Neymar, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo were all left out, while West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta made his first return to the Brazilian national team since being embroiled in match-fixing allegations last year.

Speaking to the press, coach Ancelotti said that Neymar, along with several other players such as Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, need time to regain their best form before the World Cup next summer.

“Everyone knows Neymar, he, like a few others, needs to be in good shape to be able to help the team play well and give their all at the 2026 World Cup,” Ancelotti said. “These two matches are the last two of the qualifying rounds, and we need to finish this stage impressively. I have selected the players I think are best.”

In the Brazilian squad list, veteran midfielder Casemiro also made a surprise return. Chelsea's young talent Estevão also received a chance. Brazil will play their final two qualifying matches on September 4th at home against Chile and on September 9th away against Bolivia.

In June, Brazil secured their place in the 2026 World Cup thanks to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Paraguay. Despite qualifying, Brazil's performance wasn't particularly convincing.
