Tass Chen Wenqing will attend the 20th international meeting of high-level representatives on security issues and hold the 5th meeting of the China-Russia law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism in Russia from May 11-8 at the invitation of the host country, citing a May 21 announcement by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin.
In related developments on the same day, a source familiar with the matter said that China's Special Envoy for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui could visit Moscow next week.
Earlier, China announced that special envoy Li Hui would visit Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany and Russia to participate in negotiations to find a way to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
Mr. Li Hui made his first stop, Ukraine, from May 16 to 17.
On May 19, spokesman Uong Van Bin also informed about the visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to China from May 5-23.
"The cooperation relationship between China and Russia - the largest neighbors and also the owners of emerging markets - is very strong and has great potential," said Mr. Uong Van Bin.
During his visit to Moscow, on March 21, President Xi Jinping invited the Russian Prime Minister to visit China as soon as possible to contribute to strengthening the close ties between the two sides.
