Hats off to Amad Diallo

Ivory Coast couldn't beat Cameroon in their second match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Cup), but Amad Diallo played exceptionally well individually.

In the early hours of December 29th, Amad Diallo's spectacular goal could only help Ivory Coast draw 1-1 with Cameroon at the Stade de Marrakech. Diallo himself played brilliantly and was voted Man of the Match.

The Manchester United star played energetically in both attacking and defensive aspects, with the highlight coming in the 51st minute when Diallo dribbled the ball and unleashed a beautiful curling shot to open the scoring. This was his second goal in two matches in this year's tournament.

However, Ivory Coast only held the lead for five minutes. In the 56th minute, Ghislain Konan inadvertently scored an own goal from a shot by Junior Tchamadeu, allowing Cameroon to equalize 1-1. Despite the efforts of renowned stars like Diallo and Kessie, Ivory Coast were unable to score another goal.

Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo's teammate at Manchester United, also tried his best in this match. However, the Cameroonian star didn't play particularly well and was completely overshadowed by his younger teammate.

This draw keeps the situation in Group F extremely tense. After Mozambique caused an upset by beating Gabon 3-2 on December 28th, the chances of advancing are now evenly divided among Ivory Coast (4 points), Cameroon (4 points), and Mozambique (3 points). Gabon remains at the bottom of Group F with 0 points.
