Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan - Chairman of the National Competition Commission emphasized that the workshop is where AI plays a particularly important role, not only as an advanced technology but also as a powerful partner, bringing breakthrough solutions to complex problems in our field.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is opening up groundbreaking possibilities in competition management. With the ability to process and analyze huge amounts of data from sources such as e-commerce transactions, social networks or business records, AI can help detect anti-competitive behaviors such as monopolies, anti-competitive agreements or abuse of dominant positions – signs that are difficult for humans to recognize.

Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan also said that AI has great potential in processing big data, detecting anti-competitive behavior, supporting investigation, assessing the impact of M&A deals as well as improving the efficiency of receiving, analyzing and responding to consumer complaints.

“In the context of a rapidly developing digital economy, with a rapid increase in data and complex business models, competition and consumer protection authorities are facing increasing challenges. Detecting sophisticated anti-competitive practices, handling large volumes of consumer complaints effectively, and predicting potential market trends require new tools and approaches, ” said Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan.

AI also helps to more objectively and comprehensively assess the impact of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) on the competitive environment, thereby supporting authorities to make more accurate decisions.

Not stopping there, AI also contributes to automating the investigation and evidence collection process by quickly screening millions of documents, emails, electronic data, etc., helping to save time and focus on key factors. In addition, AI can build models to predict market trends and warn of potential risks early, helping management agencies proactively intervene and maintain a healthy competitive environment.

In the field of consumer protection, AI also shows significant potential. Smart chatbot systems can receive, classify and respond to complaints quickly and effectively. Thereby, reducing the burden on customer service departments and improving user experience. AI can also analyze complaint data to detect emerging issues, common violations and businesses with signs of re-offending, helping management agencies focus resources on handling them more effectively.

In particular, AI also allows for the personalization of information and warnings for each consumer based on their shopping behavior, preferences and online interactions, helping them make smart decisions and avoid falling into fraud traps. Thanks to the ability to analyze unusual characteristics, AI also contributes to the early detection and prevention of online fraud such as fake websites or fake promotions, contributing to protecting consumers in an increasingly complex digital environment.

However, Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan also emphasized that although the potential of AI is huge, we also need to be aware of the challenges in the process of implementing AI applications in this field.

" It could be issues with data quality and availability, the complexity of AI algorithms that require highly qualified experts, issues with ethics and accountability of AI systems, as well as concerns about the privacy of user data," Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan analyzed.

During the workshop, experts shared basic knowledge about AI; introduced some virtual assistants - artificial intelligence tools and software capable of supporting office administrative work.

In addition, experts also guide cadres, workers, and Youth Union members to use artificial intelligence tools such as: Writing standard commands for AI chatbots, composing music with AI, creating presentations...
