The coal industry strives to make the greatest possible contribution to Quang Ninh's growth.

Throughout the history of Quang Ninh province, the coal industry and the province have been inseparable, with the development of the mining industry closely linked to the construction and growth of Quang Ninh. Both sides have always worked together, overcoming difficulties, resolving obstacles, and developing together. This year, 2025, is a crucial year at the end of the term, and Quang Ninh aims for a 14% growth rate, the highest ever. Therefore, the efforts of the coal industry will make a significant contribution to helping the province achieve this goal.

Determined to always accompany the development of Quang Ninh province, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group has decisively directed its coal units and companies to actively compete in labor and production, adjusting production and business plans for each month, each quarter, and the entire year of 2025. In the first quarter, along with boosting production and business, coal industry units also actively recovered as much clean coal as possible, developed import and blending plans to meet consumption needs, especially for thermal power plants.

With the support, guidance, and timely resolution of difficulties and obstacles from Quang Ninh province, along with the determination, effort, and hard work of coal industry workers and officials, in the first quarter, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group produced over 10 million tons of clean coal, consumed 12.8 million tons of coal, and generated 2.8 billion kWh of electricity; contributing approximately 4,900 billion VND to the budget in Quang Ninh, reaching 28% of the annual plan, thereby contributing to the economic growth targets of the whole country in general and Quang Ninh province in particular.

Building on the success of the first quarter, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (VICA) has instructed its member units to maintain high production and business levels in the second quarter, striving to produce 10.5 million tons of clean coal, including 10.2 million tons in Quang Ninh, contributing over 5,200 billion VND to the Quang Ninh provincial budget; and achieving over 56% of the annual production and business targets by the end of the first six months.

To achieve the targets set for each month, quarter, and year, coal mining units have launched emulation campaigns among all workers and staff. For example, at Quang Hanh Coal Company, the unit successfully extracted its first ton of coal at the -300m level. This is the result of the project "Construction of the No. 1 longwall face at levels -175/-300, part of the project to mine below -50m at the Nga Hai coal mine." This project, which started in 2020, completed over 7,700 meters of longwall by March 2025. According to the initial plan, longwall face No. 1 was scheduled to be put into operation in July 2025, but the company's workers and staff have made efforts to accelerate the process, bringing it into operation three months earlier.

Along with accelerating mining progress, Quang Hanh Coal Company is also focusing on investing in three key projects: the project to upgrade the surface power supply system at the -175/-300 level of the Nga Hai coal mine; the project to invest in a conveyor belt and winch system for transporting people to serve production at the -175/-300 level; and the project to invest in an underground power supply system for production and drainage equipment. These investments aim to ensure mining operations at greater depths, improve coal transportation efficiency, and ensure the safety of workers moving within the mine.

Along with promoting labor and production emulation at affiliated units, to ensure the completion of the task of supplying sufficient coal for production in economic sectors in 2025, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group directs mines to continue accelerating the progress of exploration projects and projects requesting the granting, extension, and adjustment of coal mining licenses, thereby ensuring long-term, sustainable development and contributing a stable budget to the economy.

In 2025, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (VICA) is committed to the Government to strive to achieve a clean coal production output of 39.5 million tons, an increase of 1.5 million tons compared to 2024. Coal consumption is targeted at 51.5 million tons, an increase of 2.5 million tons compared to 2024. Total revenue for the entire industry is targeted at 180,000 billion VND, an 8% increase compared to 2024. The Group also aims to contribute the highest possible amount to the state budget and set a target of increasing investment value by 12% compared to 2024, in accordance with the Central Government's directives.
