This morning (August 16th), in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Information and Communications held a meeting with retired officials from the Southern region to express gratitude to veteran revolutionaries and former leaders who have retired and are currently residing in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces. The meeting also served as an opportunity to recall the glorious traditions on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Information and Communications sector.
On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long extended birthday wishes to retired officials aged 70 and above.

On behalf of the Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long respectfully expressed his gratitude to the veteran revolutionaries and retired leaders of the Information and Communications sector from all periods. At the same time, Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long emphasized the role of the Information and Communications sector in the current "revolution" of digital transformation.
According to Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long, one of the countries near Vietnam, China, is making strong decisions regarding digital transformation. China is betting on digital transformation to rise up, aiming to surpass the current leading countries.

Vietnam is also gradually accelerating its digital transformation process. In particular, in 2022, the Central Committee issued a resolution on continuing to promote the industrialization and modernization of the country until 2030, with a vision to 2045. This resolution identifies the need to accelerate digital transformation to shorten the country's industrialization and modernization process.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Information and Communications has been tasked with developing a proposal to submit to the Politburo regarding a resolution on digital transformation. This will be a crucial resolution to guide Vietnam's digital transformation process. At the same time, the Ministry of Information and Communications is also contributing to the upcoming 14th Party Congress resolution on the country's digital transformation directions.
To accomplish these tasks, the Ministry of Information and Communications has been focusing on developing digital infrastructure. Specifically, this includes developing telecommunications infrastructure, data infrastructure, and digital platforms.
"Our industry must lead the way, and businesses within the industry must strive to focus on developing digital infrastructure. Without digital infrastructure, there can be no digital transformation," Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long affirmed.
Leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications also stated that the Ministry has directed postal enterprises to participate in the process of building digital data, as digital data is a national resource.
Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long also added that China has established more than 30 data exchanges. They view data as an asset, and data exchanges are like stock exchanges. Therefore, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector will also move towards building and creating digital data and will form data exchanges.
Recreating the traditional "historical flow" of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry.
On behalf of retired officials in the industry, Mr. Ly Kiet (Chairman of the Southern Information and Postal Service's Resistance Tradition Club, former Deputy General Director of Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group) expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Information and Communications for organizing this gathering to commemorate the industry's traditional day.

According to him, gatherings like today demonstrate the strong bond and solidarity that has been a long-standing tradition of the industry. Mr. Ly Kiet also expressed his hope that the Ministry of Information and Communications will hold a similar solemn gathering on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the industry's founding in 2025. At the same time, he hoped that retired officials and veterans would continue to contribute their spirit to the development of the information and communications industry in the future.

Responding to retired officials, Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long stated that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector's traditional day. To prepare for this 80th anniversary, the Ministry of ICT has directed and assigned the sector's Trade Union to develop a plan to renovate all cemeteries, traditional houses, and historical relics of the ICT sector. This plan will be implemented now and completed by June 2025. In addition, the Ministry of ICT also aims to build traditional houses, memorial houses, and historical landmarks in the direction of "a continuous historical flow throughout the development process of the ICT sector."
At the same time, on the occasion of the upcoming 80th anniversary, the Ministry of Information and Communications will also organize a "Back to the Roots" program in Tay Ninh for cadres and veteran revolutionaries.
