Job Fair:

In the context of a volatile labor market, the demand for jobs is increasing, and many businesses are desperate for suitable personnel. Organizing job fairs has effectively connected labor supply and demand. Many people have found suitable jobs right at these events.

Both businesses and employees appreciate it.

Participating in the job fair organized by the People's Committee of Thien Loc commune in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Interior Affairs in early April 2026, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (from Thu Lam commune, a recent mechanical engineering graduate) said: “Before attending the job fair in Thien Loc commune, I had submitted applications online to several places, but received no response. This time, after just one in-person meeting with recruiters at the fair, I was hired by a mechanical manufacturing company. Meeting directly with the recruiters helped me better understand the job requirements and showcase myself more effectively.”

As one of the 185 workers who found jobs at the job fair organized by Phuc Thinh commune, Ms. Tran Thi Mai (Co Dien village, Vinh Thanh commune) shared: “I lost my job because my old company cut staff. At the Phuc Thinh commune job fair, I participated in an interview at ICD Vietnam Industrial Production Co., Ltd., and I was hired and assigned to the position of administrative staff.”

The mobile job fair, organized by the Hanoi Department of Internal Affairs in coordination with local authorities, always attracts the participation of numerous units, businesses, and vocational training centers, with a total recruitment demand of tens of thousands of workers across a diverse range of positions and industries. This provides a favorable opportunity for unemployed individuals to find suitable jobs, helps graduating students and those receiving unemployment benefits to return to the labor market sooner.

According to Nguyen Ba Ton, Director of Lam Anh Vietnam Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company: “The company needs to recruit 30-40 skilled workers in the fields of electrical and mechanical engineering, air conditioning, and fire protection, with salaries ranging from 10 to 15 million VND per month. By participating in the job fair in Thien Loc commune, the company has recruited many suitable workers, significantly reducing recruitment costs.”

In reality, direct connections between workers and businesses at the local level have helped increase transparency and reduce information delays. Notably, with the development of technology, many localities have combined in-person and online job fairs, expanding the reach and connecting labor supply and demand more effectively, which has been highly appreciated by both businesses and workers.

Enhancing the role of a "bridge" more effectively.

Many local leaders affirmed that job fairs not only address immediate needs but also have long-term significance in the development of the labor market. Nguyen Hung Dung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Loc commune, said: “Organizing job fairs and career counseling provides young people and workers with the opportunity to directly interact with businesses and vocational training institutions, thereby enabling them to choose suitable jobs and careers. This is also an opportunity for businesses to reach workers and recruit personnel according to actual requirements. Through this event, Party committees, government agencies, and mass organizations continue to understand the needs and aspirations, as well as information on labor supply and demand, of workers, businesses, and vocational training institutions to develop sustainable solutions to effectively carry out career guidance and job creation, contributing to ensuring social security.”

From a professional perspective, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Internal Affairs Nguyen Tay Nam emphasized: “Job fairs are one of the important solutions to reduce the unemployment rate, especially among young workers. Through these fairs, management agencies can understand the recruitment needs of businesses, thereby building training policies that are more suitable to reality, and at the same time contribute to improving the quality of human resources through 'direct meetings' between the two sides. When workers clearly understand the recruitment requirements, they will have a more appropriate learning and training orientation. Conversely, businesses also have the opportunity to 'order' human resources according to actual needs.”

According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2026, the Hanoi Employment Service Center organized numerous specialized job fairs, part-time job fairs in collaboration with universities, and fairs for demobilized soldiers returning to their localities, attracting a large number of participating businesses.

This initiative supports businesses in recruitment while helping workers find suitable jobs. In the first quarter of 2026, the entire city provided employment for nearly 50,000 workers, achieving 29.19% of the annual plan, including over 3,600 workers who found jobs through job fairs, job exchanges, and job placement activities at the Hanoi Employment Service Center.

Job fairs are not simply recruitment activities, but also systematic solutions for connecting labor supply and demand, especially in the face of increasingly fierce competition for human resources. “When organized systematically and professionally, this event will contribute to improving the quality of human resources, supporting business development, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for workers,” shared Dr. Trinh Hoang Phuong, lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management, Institute of Business Administration, School of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

In the context of digital transformation and increasingly deep integration, continuing to innovate organizational methods by flexibly combining in-person and online formats, closely linked to the practical needs of the labor market, will help job fairs more effectively fulfill their role as a "bridge". This will provide workers with more opportunities to access suitable jobs and stabilize their lives, while also making a positive contribution to socio-economic development.
