Prolonged heavy rain has caused landslides, mountain cracks, and flooding in many areas of Nghe An province.

On the afternoon of August 31st, Mr. Lo Duong Khanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Thai commune ( Nghe An province), stated that due to prolonged heavy rain, landslides and flooding have occurred in the commune, causing isolation in some areas.

Currently, the overflow bridge on Provincial Road 541B is deeply submerged, cutting off access between the commune center and the villages inland. National Highway 7A, near Khe Quyen bridge, has also experienced landslides, with soil and rocks sliding onto the road. The commune authorities have deployed personnel to ensure the safety of the residents.

In addition to affecting roads, heavy rains have also caused serious landslides, threatening the safety and lives of residents.

The Tam Thai Commune Civil Defense Command coordinated with other forces to urgently evacuate the family of Ms. Luong Thi Cuc in Na Tong village to a safe location.

Dinh Phong Bridge is severely damaged.

In Tam Quang commune, heavy rains caused landslides and damage to the Dinh Phong bridge spanning the Lam River. This bridge connects Dinh Phong village to Dinh Tien, Dinh Huong, and Dinh Thang villages.

As soon as the incident was discovered, local authorities erected barricades to prevent people from passing through. This incident temporarily isolated nearly 300 households.

Besides Dinh Phong bridge, many sections of road in Tam Quang district have also suffered serious landslides, causing difficulties and dangers for passersby.

Prolonged heavy rain has also caused cracks in the mountainside in Long Quang village, Tien Phong commune. Ms. Lo Thi Nguyet, Chairwoman of the Commune People's Committee, said that inspections revealed cracks over 100 meters long and an average depth of about 60 centimeters, located on a steep mountainside, posing a high risk of landslides. At the foot of the mountain, there are two households and a carpentry workshop with 28 people living and working.

Immediately after the inspection, the commune organized a 24/7 monitoring team to track geological developments and prepared plans to evacuate residents to safe areas.
