At the "Meeting and Listening to People's Opinions" conference organized by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province in Huu Lung commune at the end of May 2026, people raised many opinions and suggestions related to issues such as: difficulties after implementing the two-tiered local government model; overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; resettlement plans; plans to clear waterways to avoid flooding when implementing industrial park projects, etc.
The opinions and suggestions of the people were addressed and received by the members of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and the commune leaders. They affirmed that they would compile and classify them for submission to the competent authorities for consideration and resolution, while also monitoring, urging, and supervising the responses and handling of the issues, and providing feedback to the people.
Ms. Nong Thi Siu, born in 1949, residing in Truong Son village, Huu Lung commune, shared: "We strongly agree with this method of soliciting public opinion. I hope this model will be maintained even better so that we can express our thoughts and aspirations, receive attention and solutions from relevant authorities, and contribute to improving the lives of the people."
Along with the provincial level, the grassroots level has also been actively organizing conferences to "Listen to the People's Opinions." Notably, based on the actual situation and public opinion, each commune chooses a topic to implement, attracting the attention and participation of the people. For example, in Dinh Lap commune, on June 9, 2026, the Fatherland Front Committee and political and social organizations of the commune organized a conference with the theme "Village Mergers – Issues of Concern to the People." After the leaders of the Fatherland Front Committee of the commune informed about the policy, plan, purpose, and significance of the village arrangement and merger, representatives of the people from the villages raised 12 opinions, all expressing strong agreement with the proposed plan (according to the arrangement plan, Dinh Lap commune will reduce from 26 villages to 14 villages).
Ms. Nong Thi Yen Vinh, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dinh Lap commune, said: "The choice of this theme for the 'Listening to the People's Opinions' conference was of great interest to the people. The opinions at the conference not only revolved around the number of villages after the merger but also focused on ensuring the stability, unity, and development of the community after the merger. The conference organizers provided specific answers, helping the commune government find appropriate solutions and contributing to public consensus."
According to our findings, the "Listening to the People's Opinions" conference was held in accordance with Plan No. 44 dated April 17, 2026, of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province. Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, stated: This is a political activity implementing the pilot model of "Month of Listening to the People" in 2026, launched by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province. This model demonstrates the determination to innovate the working methods of the Fatherland Front, promote its role in representing the legitimate rights and interests of the people, and concretize the motto "Listen to the people, explain so the people understand, act so the people trust."
According to the Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the plan aims for the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and each political and social organization to select one commune or ward to hold a conference to receive feedback in a specific month. For example, in June, the Provincial Youth Union will hold a conference in Binh Gia commune; in September, the Provincial Farmers' Association will hold one in Bac Son commune; and in October 2026, the Provincial Women's Union will hold one in That Khe commune… The Fatherland Front committees of communes and wards will also select one village or cluster of villages as a pilot location to organize a "Listening to the People's Opinions" conference with appropriate topics; then the model will be replicated.
Since the plan was implemented, the Fatherland Front of the province has organized 22 "Listening to the People's Opinions" conferences. At these conferences, approximately 300 opinions were received covering various fields, which were addressed, received, and compiled by the leaders of the Fatherland Front committees and relevant agencies and units for forwarding to higher levels and sectors for resolution.
It can be affirmed that the "Listening to the People's Opinions" conference, organized by the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in the province, demonstrates a spirit of "open-mindedness, attentiveness, and avoiding formality." Through this, many opinions, even grievances at the grassroots level, were raised and promptly addressed. This contributes to reducing the number of complaints and lawsuits filed at higher levels, fostering consensus among the people, and strengthening national unity in the area.
